To promote the collaboration with National, regional and local governments, NCKU, featuring the interdisciplinary study experience and utilization in social practice, has been cooperated with governments on water security from local to global, and is committed to working on industry-academia-research cooperation, personnel training and extension education in water security filed, in order to achieve the goals of solving the problems of water pollution, water purification and water security.
In this regard, the Hydraulic Laboratory at National Cheng Kung University is dedicated to various research areas, including coastal environments, water resources, soil and groundwater pollution remediation, and environmental education. For coastal environments, the lab conducts analyses and simulations of waves and risks to protect, restore, and manage coastlines against erosion, sea-level rise, and natural disasters. In terms of water resources, it enhances surface water analysis and forecasting capabilities based on environmental monitoring projects. Regarding soil and groundwater pollution remediation, the lab conducts monitoring investigations and develops remediation technologies, providing valuable references for future soil and groundwater quality assessments and pollution mitigation efforts.
