National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) promotes water conservation and water-resource awareness beyond the campus through practical education, community engagement, and public educational materials.
The Department of Hydraulic Engineering regularly organizes visits to the NCKU Tainan Hydraulics Laboratory for students, high school teachers and students, and disaster management groups, providing firsthand knowledge of water resource management and disaster prevention.
NCKU also integrates environmental education into community activities, such as the “Find the Treasure in Chenggong Lake” event, where students and local residents learn about water quality, aquatic ecosystems, and biodiversity. In addition, through its Tainan Hydraulics Laboratory, NCKU collaborates with Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency to disseminate drought-themed comics, easy-to-read handbooks, electronic books, and picture books that communicate water conservation and water-resource protection to schools and social welfare institutions.

Launched in 2014, the "Hydraulic Management Camp" has reached its ninth session, serving as a platform for interested young scholars. The curriculum features diversified content, including presentations by Water Agency officials and experts on Taiwan's water challenges. It encourages participants to discuss topics and actively attend international conferences to broaden their global water governance perspectives.

NCKU supported the development of a drought-themed comic that communicated water conservation and water-resource protection messages. NCKU also supported the production and dissemination of educational materials, including an easy-to-read water disaster prevention handbook, electronic books and picture books, through schools and social welfare institutions. These materials were used to communicate water conservation, drought prevention and water-resource protection concepts to elementary and secondary students, special education schools, and people with intellectual disabilities.
