NCKU supports and implements remote work through a combination of platforms, secure connections, processes, and practice. It provides the N3 learning digital platform as an online portal for on- and off-campus courses, publishes SSL VPN instructions for secure remote access to university systems, and offers an online clock-in/clock-out system to handle attendance in remote settings. In addition, publicly posted on-campus work-study recruitment notices explicitly state “work from home permitted” as a work arrangement, demonstrating that the system is in actual use.

Allow remote working
- N3 learning- Digital Online Learning Platform
NCKU launched the N3learning online learning platform as the main portal for digital courses and lifelong learning. The platform not only serves current faculty and students but also provides extension education, social responsibility courses, and corporate training, covering fields such as healthcare, education, and social sciences. This initiative promotes remote teaching and digital learning, enabling faculty, staff, and the general public to pursue continuing education online, thereby reducing commuting needs and supporting sustainable development and low-carbon working models.- Remote encrypted connection (SSL VPN)
NCKU provides an SSL VPN remote encrypted connection service, enabling faculty, staff, and students to securely access campus-restricted network resources (such as e-journals and licensed software) while off campus, as if they were on campus. The service is available to current faculty, staff, and students with an NCKU Portal account, who log in through their Portal credentials. This measure supports remote working and teaching, reducing the need for faculty and students to physically commute to campus, thereby lowering carbon emissions from commuting while ensuring information security.- Online Check-In and Check-Out System
NCKU has established the Administrative e-System “Online Attendance System”, which allows faculty and staff to log in remotely to record their clock-in and clock-out times. The system supports a flexible working schedule and enables real-time attendance tracking and management, reducing the need for paper-based processes and on-site check-ins. This initiative allows employees to complete attendance procedures from different locations, enhancing the feasibility of remote work and flexible working hours, while also reducing commuting needs and promoting a low-carbon working model.- Campus Announcement Practices Explicitly Listing “Remote Work” as an Acceptable Work Location Option
NCKU has issued an official internal notice explicitly listing “home-based remote working”as one of the recognized work location arrangements. The notice specifies that staff can work from home as their regular workplace and are only required to be on campus for specific activities or meetings. This demonstrates the University’s institutionalized support for telecommuting, reducing daily commuting needs while ensuring flexibility and efficiency.
