Affordable housing for employees

NCKU provides affordable staff housing through institutional mechanisms, transparent fees, and financial support.

Allocation is governed by the Regulations for the Establishment of the Staff Housing Allocation and Management Committee and the Guidelines for Staff Housing Allocation and Management.

On the official Staff Housing webpage, room types and locations are listed—single-room units in the Ching-Yeh and Tzu-Chiang campuses and multi-room units in the Dong-Ning and Tzu-Chiang campuses—together with application links and transparent cost information.

In addition, the Management Fee Schedule for Staff Housing specifies, for each residence, the address, floor area, and monthly management fee, and stipulates a four-year review cycle in line with central standards.

For financial support, the Employees and Teachers Withholding Housing Allowance Table lists deduction amounts by rank/salary points, serving as the basis for allowance claims and payroll withholding.

  1. Regulations for the Establishment of the NCKU Faculty and Staff Dormitory Allocation and Management Committee
The Regulations for the Establishment of the Faculty and Staff Dormitory Assignment and Management Committee at NCKU were formulated in accordance with Article 24 of the university’s organizational regulations. Initially approved in 1997, they were later revised in 2010 and 2021. The purpose of these regulations is to serve faculty and staff by supporting their living needs, enhancing work efficiency, and standardizing dormitory allocation and management. The committee is responsible for handling dormitory assignment, lending, and administration, ensuring a fair and transparent system that balances staff housing needs with the university’s development. This framework provides comprehensive logistical support, thereby improving the overall well-being and productivity of faculty, staff, and students.

  1. NCKU Guidelines for Dormitory Allocation and Management

The NCKU Directions for Assigning, Lending, and Managing Dormitories were first established in 1988 and have undergone multiple revisions, with the most recent approved in 2021 by the University Affairs and Administrative Meetings and subsequently ratified by the Ministry of Education. Its core purpose is to regulate the allocation, lending, and management of dormitories to ensure fair and reasonable use on campus. The guidelines cover application, review, and usage standards for faculty and staff dormitories, while also establishing administrative mechanisms to balance housing needs with institutional development. Through these directions, the university provides adequate accommodation resources and logistical support, thereby enhancing teaching and research efficiency.

  1. Employees and Teachers Withholding Housing Allowance Table
The Government Employees and Teachers Withholding Housing Allowance Table stipulates the deduction amounts for government employees and teachers residing in public dormitories, calculated based on rank or salary points. Civil servants, including general workers, are categorized by rank, with deductions ranging from NT$400 to NT$700. Teachers are classified by position and salary points, with the president and senior-level teachers subject to the highest deduction of NT$700, while the lowest is NT$500. This table is established according to the Civil Servants’ Salary Table and the Academic Research Allowance Standards for educators. Its purpose is to ensure fairness and consistency in dormitory rent and subsidy calculations, maintaining a standardized management system.

  1. Introduction to Official (Staff) Dormitories
NCKU provides staff dormitories for full-time faculty and staff, offering convenient accommodation near the campus to support work and daily life needs. The dormitories are allocated based on unit and demand, situated in tranquil environments with convenient transportation access. The university has also established related regulations, such as the Directions for Assigning, Lending, and Managing Dormitories and the Regulations for the Establishment of the Dormitory Assignment and Management Committee, to govern application, allocation, and housing allowance deductions, ensuring fair use of resources. In addition to basic living facilities, the dormitories provide a quiet and comfortable academic atmosphere that helps improve the quality of life and work efficiency for faculty and staff.

  1. Official Dormitory Management Fee
The management fees for staff dormitories at NCKU are determined based on dormitory type and floor area, ranging from NT$409 to NT$1,618 per month. For example, a room of 87㎡ in the Dongning Scholars’ Dormitory area is NT$971, while a 145㎡ room is NT$1,618. Newly renovated dormitories require an additional NT$300. Non-staff personnel are required to pay a minimum usage fee of NT$3,000 per month. For extended stays in the Scholars’ Dormitory, an extension fee of NT$10,000 is charged, and NT$18,000 for stays over nine years. Management fees are reviewed every four years to align with the central government’s staff dormitory fee standards, ensuring fairness and reasonableness.
