NCKU is dedicated to collaborating with local authorities to address planning and development issues.
NCKU has leveraged its strong academic research and technological expertise to integrate industry, government, and academia, actively promoting the establishment of smart campuses and cities. Using the NCKU campus as a testing ground, the university has collaborated with the Tainan City Government since 2017 to gradually build a smart city, launching the AI Urban Governance and Data Talent Development Program. This unique "government-academia co-creation and joint talent cultivation" model connects practical municipal operations with academic research, setting a pioneering example in Taiwan.
The NCKU Hospital Shalun Campus is set to create a new era of integrated medical services, forming a national-level medical innovation hub. Drawing on NCKU's comprehensive technological capabilities, the university, alongside public policy partners and private industry alliances, aims to make the Shalun Campus a new center of Taiwan’s smart industries. This initiative will contribute to the development of a sustainable new township and establish a blueprint for the next generation of living standards.
As society ages, providing adequate support for individuals with dementia and their caregivers has become a critical issue. In line with its commitment to social responsibility, NCKU has partnered with the Pingtung County Government since 2018, developing an experimental model for a dementia-friendly society in Xishi Village, Jhutiyan Township. Building on this foundation, the collaboration has expanded under the National Science and Technology Council’s "University and Local Government Cooperation for Humanities Development and Cross-Domain Governance Program" (referred to as the Great Land Project), which has been implemented since the latter half of 2022.
Additionally, NCKU Hospital and six medical institutions from the Chianan region, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, signed a letter of intent at NCKU's Dacheng Hall to deepen cooperation in medical services, education, and research. This partnership aims to enhance healthcare quality and medical standards, providing better care and services to the local population.
