NCKU’s Climate Action Plan
- At the 2024 4th TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards, NCKU received 1 Grand Award, 1 Gold Award, and 1 Bronze Award.
The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) awarded the Gold Prize at the 2024 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards to NCKU’s “Chiayi Net Zero AI Remote Carbon Management” project. Led by Prof. Wu (Geomatics) and Prof. Hsu (Architecture), the team used geospatial technologies and AI to estimate urban carbon sequestration in Chiayi. Collaborating with the Environmental Protection Bureau, they assessed six green spaces and the Chiayi Experimental Forest, estimating 35.73 tons of carbon sequestered monthly. The project will expand analyses while balancing cultural preservation and sustainability, supporting Chiayi’s net-zero carbon goal.
