To promote the conservation and sustainable use of marine ecosystems, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) provides education on freshwater ecosystems, irrigation practices, and water resource management. Key activities in 2024 include:
- Taiwan-UK Collaboration and Marine Environmental Education at NCKU
NCKU promotes international research and environmental education. Through the Taiwan-UK Collaborative Research Program, it studies groundwater under climate change to address drought challenges. Simultaneously, NCKU’s Marine Biology and Cetacean Research Center—Taiwan’s first cetacean rescue education facility and Tainan’s 23rd certified environmental education site—offers programs on marine biodiversity and rescue techniques. These efforts highlight NCKU’s commitment to global collaboration and local environmental conservation.- NCKU Disaster Prevention Technology and Management Program
Established in 2011, NCKU’s interdisciplinary Disaster Prevention Technology and Management Certificate Program equips students with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage disasters and develop preventive strategies.- NCKU Global Water Resources Governance Camp
The 2024 NCKU Global Water Resources Governance Talent Training Camp covered water quality management, marine resource protection, and sustainable water policies. Through lectures, field visits, and case studies, participants enhanced their practical skills and strategic thinking, promoting sustainable water management and responsible use of aquatic ecosystems.- Coastal and Wetland Environmental Education
NCKU organizes participatory workshops on coastal environment planning, engaging diverse stakeholders to address complex coastal issues. At the same time, the university promotes wetland education through school programs, community workshops, and eco-tourism, emphasizing their ecological significance and fostering awareness of sustainable, net-zero carbon practices.
