NCKU places great emphasis on the mental health and well-being of its students and staff, providing comprehensive psychological counseling and support services to address both mental and emotional needs on campus.
Psychological Counseling and Mental Health Promotion Services
The Counselling and Wellness Services Division employs multiple licensed psychologists and social workers who offer individual counseling, group counseling, workshops, and mental health lectures, helping students relieve academic stress and develop emotional regulation skills. The center also provides dedicated resources for students with physical or mental disabilities. In addition, the center organizes “Mindful Relaxation” activities that combine stretching, meditation, breathing exercises, music, and aromatherapy to help students and staff balance their autonomic nervous system and cultivate self-care abilities.
Enhancing Accessibility through Multi-site Counseling and On-campus Mental Health Professionals
NCKU has expanded counseling spaces across campuses, implemented nighttime counseling and dormitory-based psychologists, and offers “Mental Health Adjustment Leave” to enhance accessibility and availability of mental health resources. Each semester, professional psychiatrists are also available on campus, providing confidential consultations to ensure students and staff can seek psychiatric guidance with peace of mind.
Through these integrated services, NCKU aims to raise awareness of mental health, reduce stigma, and foster a campus culture where seeking help is recognized, encouraged, and supported rather than labeled.
