NCKU is committed to upholding freedom of speech for its faculty and students:
Student Participation in Governance and Academic Freedom
NCKU ensures student representation in university councils and supports participation in governance through the student association. Anonymous suggestion systems and teaching feedback surveys further protect student rights and contribute to academic improvement. The university is firmly committed to protecting academic freedom, respecting the rights of faculty and students to express themselves in teaching, research, and discussion.
Inclusive Platforms for Rational Dialogue
By establishing inclusive platforms across political, social, cultural, and gender-related dimensions, NCKU promotes rational dialogue and mutual understanding. Upholding freedom of expression and participatory rights, the university demonstrates a strong commitment to democracy, diversity, and academic freedom. These initiatives not only strengthen open and constructive public discourse but also advance the pursuit of peace, justice, and strong institutions in alignment with SDG 16.
- NCKU Department of Political Science Forum: "“The Challenges of Election Polls: Accuracy and Future Development"
NCKU hosted “The Challenges of Election Polls: Accuracy and Future Development” Forum, inviting scholars and experts to examine the reliability of election polls, the role of swing voters, the potential influence of polling on voter behavior, applications of big data and AI, and media interpretations. The forum underscored NCKU’s commitment to fostering balanced discussions and enhancing public understanding of electoral issues in a rapidly changing society.- NCKU Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) Hosts the "International Foresight Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences"
Through the International Foresight Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences, NCKU promoted cross-disciplinary dialogue on Taiwan’s history, civic consciousness, technological ethics, and cultural identity. The forum provided an open and inclusive platform for diverse perspectives, reinforcing NCKU’s role in advancing rational debate, democratic values, and social harmony.- Gender Equality Film Screening and Post-Screening Discussion
Addressing themes such as teacher-student relationships, sexual assault, and judicial proceedings, the activity highlighted the complex intersections of gender, power, and justice. Post-screening discussions created a safe and neutral space for faculty and students to exchange views, deepening awareness and reflection on gender equality and strengthening an inclusive campus culture.

NCKU has established a feedback mailbox system, providing students, faculty, and the public with a secure and transparent channel to report issues related to campus affairs, gender incidents, personal complaints, and hospital matters. The system emphasizes neutral handling, privacy protection, and responses by dedicated units, while offering case tracking and satisfaction feedback mechanisms, demonstrating NCKU’s commitment to maintaining a fair, open, and accountable campus communication and discussion platform.- Student Feedback Questionnaires System
NCKU has established a Teaching Feedback Survey, providing students with a safe, anonymous, and neutral channel to freely express their opinions on courses and teaching. Instructors can use the feedback to understand students’ learning status, adjust teaching methods, or improve instructional skills, thereby enhancing overall teaching quality and demonstrating NCKU’s commitment to two-way communication and continuous educational improvement.
