NCKU's public access to buildings

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) actively promotes public access to its cultural facilities.

The university museum and the Magic School of Green are fully open for visits, and guided tours can be reserved online. In addition, the library is open to the general public free of charge and offers a wide range of resources for public use. The Art Center frequently organizes free arts and cultural events, welcoming participation from both the campus community and the general public.

All information on public access and application procedures is available on the official websites, demonstrating NCKU’s commitment to community engagement and knowledge sharing.
  1. Application for Museum Guided Tour

National Cheng Kung University Museum is fully open to the public with free admission, and visitors can enter to view permanent and special exhibitions without prior reservation.

  1. Online Application for Guided Tour of The Magic School of Green

The webpage provides online application information for guided tours of the “Magic School of Green.” General visitors do not need prior reservations to view exhibitions, but group tours must be applied for through the website at least 14 days in advance. The tours include permanent exhibitions, campus ecology, and historic site introductions. Applicant groups will receive a reply from the museum five days before the visit. Special requests or designated contact persons should be noted in the application form. This system ensures proper arrangements for off-campus groups and enhances the quality of the visit.

  1. NCKU library open to general public

The NCKU Library is open to both university members and the general public free of charge. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and continuing education participants may enter by swiping a valid university-issued ID card. Volunteers, members, and honorary friends are also eligible. General visitors (aged 16 and above) can exchange a valid ID card, passport, or student ID for an “entry pass,” which must be returned upon leaving. This system balances resource sharing with proper access management.

  1. Activities Held by The Art Center of NCKU

The NCKU Art Center regularly hosts a variety of free arts and cultural activities, including visual art exhibitions, performing arts events, and multiple lectures. In addition, the “Hello Art” series offers courses exploring topics such as art education, the history of ballet, and behind-the-scenes stage work. These activities are open to both students and the general public, showcasing the university’s commitment to sharing cultural resources and actively promoting arts education.

  1. Public Access to Cultural Heritage on Campus
NCKU preserves numerous historical and cultural landmarks within its campus. These include the National Historic Monument – Former Japanese Taiwan Infantry Second Regiment Headquarters, Tainan City-designated Historic Sites – Former Tainan Higher Industrial School Building and Xiaoxi Gate, as well as several registered historical buildings such as the NCKU Museum. These sites embody Taiwan’s architectural and educational heritage spanning over a century.
The NCKU campus is open to the public at all times, allowing visitors to freely explore its historical monuments and cultural landscapes. The university also organizes guided campus tours and heritage interpretation activities on an irregular basis to enhance public understanding and appreciation of its cultural assets, demonstrating NCKU’s strong commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement.
