Student-Friendly Campus Dining System
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has established a student-friendly and reliable campus dining system through clear governance, strict hygiene standards, and transparent information. The two dormitory cafeterias (Kuang-Fu Dorm 2, B1; Ching-Yeh Dorm 1, B1) are managed by the Housing Service Division and overseen by the Health Promotion Section. An official Customer Information Portal offers business details, feedback channels, meeting minutes, and food-safety education resources.
Food Safety and Hygiene Measures
To ensure food safety, the University requires monthly random inspections of meals, tested by nationally accredited food-safety laboratories, and conducts additional unannounced spot checks. Historically, the Kuang-Fu Student Cafeteria was recognized by the Tainan City Health Bureau as a “Fucheng Excellent Food Sanitation” establishment, reflecting its long-term hygiene performance. The Ching-Yeh cafeteria was praised for its affordability (NT$20–80), all-day dining, and convenient access.
Governance and Oversight
Regarding governance, the University has a Dietary Committee, comprising faculty and student representatives, which meets at least once per semester to oversee cafeteria contracts, conduct evaluations, and provide renewal recommendations, ensuring traceable and accountable governance.

The student dormitory cafeterias at NCKU operate under the principles of “affordable quality and hygiene first.” They undergo monthly random inspections, with food samples sent to nationally certified food safety laboratories for testing. Both dormitory cafeterias, managed by external companies, are located in the basements of Kuang-Fu Dormitory 2 and Ching-Yeh Dormitory 1 and undergo monthly inspections. The University also organizes lectures featuring nutritionists from NCKU Hospital to guide students in developing healthy eating habits, avoiding the pitfalls of eating out, and ensuring both health and food safety.
