National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) values the learning and employment rights of individuals with disabilities and promotes accessible support programs. Through specialized equipment, academic guidance, and targeted services, the university assists students and faculty and staff in overcoming barriers, ensuring equal participation and a safe, supportive learning environment.
Support for students with disabilities is provided from pre-admission consultation through ongoing guidance during their studies. Individualized support measures are planned to help students adapt to campus life, while parents, teachers, and administrative units are coordinated to jointly safeguard students’ rights.
To facilitate successful learning, the Resource Classroom provides services such as study groups, extracurricular tutoring, scholarship information, and dormitory arrangements. For students facing economic or cultural disadvantages—including those with disabilities—the Resource Classroom also offers laptop loans to address urgent needs, enabling them to complete their coursework with confidence.
NCKU offers a service-learning course that provides real-time transcription services for hearing-impaired students. Student transcribers record class content as it happens, helping hearing-impaired students participate fully in classes and activities. This program also encourages other students to fulfill their social responsibilities as university members and fosters a greater willingness to assist others.
NCKU provides tuition and enrollment benefits to ensure that students with disabilities and children of individuals with disabilities receive a high-quality education, allowing them to study with peace of mind without any disruption.
NCKU Library also recruits volunteers to record audiobooks, supporting visually impaired students in accessing reading materials. Through diverse resources and manpower assistance, the university enhances an accessible learning environment.
