Urban Cultural Exploration and Sustainable Community Tourism
Through lectures, field visits, and discussions, students deeply explore the urban memory of Tainan, learning to document the “invisible city” through writing and gaining an understanding of the significance of history and culture. The courses also guide students to understand tourism industry development, local revitalization, and legal frameworks, with hands-on experiences visiting Hengchun tourism operators and conducting marine ecological surveys, applying knowledge of agricultural resources, specialty trails, and cultural assets.
Through observation, writing, and analysis, students develop innovative skills and explore methods for sustainable community tourism and cultural heritage preservation. This series of activities highlights NCKU’s distinctive efforts and active commitment to environmental protection, cultural preservation, and community well-being.
- “Tainan Old Town × Sustainable Local Chronicles” Series of Activities
The workshop guides participants to explore the aesthetics of sustainable living through texts and memories, depicting the alleys of Tainan where every tile and wall carries rich stories. Through observation, writing, and discussion, participants gain an understanding of the importance of history and culture, while practicing sustainable living principles, contributing to the preservation of local culture and the prosperity of the community.- NCKU Electives: Sustainable Development of Tourisme- Contracts of Travel and Related Cases
The course first establishes students’ fundamental understanding of legal concepts, then guides them to explore the development of the tourism industry (including local revitalization and SDG goals) and the overall legal framework. Students also participate in field visits to tourism operators in Hengchun and conduct ecological surveys in the ocean, examining local tourism development examples to understand the current situation, challenges faced by operators, and potential solutions.- NCKU Summer Intensive Course – Sustainable Ecotourism
The course addresses shortcomings in local ecological tourism by exploring the organic connection between agriculture and specialty trails. Through in-depth research and fieldwork, participants learn to protect and sustainably utilize local ecological resources while developing sustainable tourism strategies.- NCKU Students and Faculty Propose Two Plans for Tourism Development in Longqi Following Field Research
NCKU faculty and students conducted field studies in Longqi District, Tainan, as part of a practicum course. They surveyed the local bamboo industry and mudstone badlands, and collaborated with residents through workshops to design tourism development plans highlighting these regional features. The initiative aims to deepen students’ understanding of Longqi’s landscapes and industries while maximizing the potential tourism benefits for the area’s future development.
