National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has established organizations such as the Gender Equity Education Committee and the Center for Gender & Women Studies to jointly promote campus policies, courses, and activities related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and human rights.
The Gender Equity Education Committee has a diverse and representative membership, including individuals of different genders, colleges, administrative units, and student representatives. It is responsible for policy planning, complaint mechanisms, and annual meetings, with member lists and operations made public to ensure inclusive participation and transparency in decision-making.
The Center for Gender & Women Studies actively promotes academic research and social advocacy on gender equality, inclusion, and multiculturalism, regularly organizing events such as the “Diversity and Gender Issues Festival” to enhance understanding of diversity, equity, and human rights among all students and staff. In addition, NCKU is also actively engaged in local gender initiatives, co-organizing community events such as the “Tainan Pink Dot” to foster gender-friendly connections between the campus and the broader community, thereby deepening the social practice of gender equality.

  1. NCKU Gender Equity Education Committee
NCKU has established the “Gender Equity Education Committee” in accordance with the Gender Equity Education Act, chaired by the university president and composed of 21 members, including faculty, staff, and student representatives. The committee has an independent office that provides a confidential and safe consultation space, conducts investigations and research on gender issues, and promotes legal frameworks. It actively organizes forums, film exhibitions, and lectures to raise awareness of gender equity and foster a campus culture of respect for diversity.

  1. NCKU Guidelines for the Establishment of Gender Equity Education Committee

NCKU, in accordance with the Gender Equity Education Act, has established the “Guidelines for the Establishment of the Gender Equity Education Committee.” The guidelines define the committee’s foundation and operations, including integrating campus resources, organizing gender equity education activities, developing curricula, investigating cases, and establishing prevention mechanisms. The committee also promotes gender equity education across the campus and community. This framework demonstrates NCKU’s institutional commitment to implementing gender equity.

  1. The “Tainan Pink Dot” Event
NCKU actively supports gender diversity and LGBTQ+ inclusion by participating in and co-organizing the “Tainan Pink Dot” event. The university encourages faculty and students to take part, demonstrating campus values of respect for differences and inclusiveness. Through this event, NCKU promotes equality and creates a supportive environment for diverse gender identities.

  1. NCKU Center for Gender & Women Studies
NCKU established the “Center for Gender and Women’s Studies,” dedicated to advancing gender studies, women’s issues, and interdisciplinary education. The center organizes academic conferences, forums, and gender-related micro-courses, while also publishing related works to strengthen awareness and research capacity in gender equity. By integrating education and research, the center demonstrates NCKU’s concrete actions in promoting gender equality and supporting women’s development.
