NCKU Collaborations with NGOs on SDGs
With regards to actual research achievements, in order to improve the competition of the aviation industry in Taiwan, NCKU president Huey-Jen Su signed an agreement with Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) to establish a joint research & development center. In addition to creating a platform for collaboration, the center also cultivates professional talent, enhances industry-academia cooperation, eventually leveling up the Taiwanese aviation industry. At the same time, NCKU has established “Atelier Future” with Bank SinoPac, demonstrating the results of this collaboration. Finally, on pandemic prevention, NCKU displayed to the world our self-developed Taiwanese version of “Quarantine unit for recovery Emergency, and Ecology (QurE).” This design adopts “molecular design” and can quickly build negative pressure wards according to local conditions. It can also plan separate flows for medical professionals and patients, providing a secure, healthy, and high-quality medical environment. The design concept and process of QurE is published on their website, available for download.
On the other hand, in terms of educational resources, NCKU initiated the “Shalun Smart Industry Innovation Alliance”, targeting Smart Healthcare, Circular Economy, Future Transportation, Carbon Reduction & Green Energy as main topics to kick off discussions and interactions, contributing to the future prospects of Shalun Green Energy Science District.
NCKU takes the lead and takes on executive work, establishing the “Shalun Green Energy Innovation Promotion Platform”, initiating the “Promotion Committee” and “Government-corporation-university juridical person”, determining the overall goals, to effectively work with the government and response to their vision. According to Vice President of the Executive Yuan Chen Chi-mai, NCKU is a well-rounded top university across all fields, the brain of the “Great Southern Plan”; the Executive Yuan will support NCKU and the Shalun Smart Industry Innovation Alliance.
