NCKU’s accessible facilities

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has established comprehensive accessible facilities, providing a friendly learning and living environment for people with disabilities.
The university publishes an accessible campus map and resource center locations, clearly indicating ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms, nursing rooms, gender-friendly toilets, and priority parking for women and children. It also compiles a wide range of available on- and off-campus resources for faculty and staff with disabilities.
For housing needs, the university reserves special dormitory beds specifically for students with disabilities.
Finally, NCKU regularly conducts accessibility facility inventories and implements improvement measures. All related information is fully available on the official website, ensuring accessibility and inclusiveness of campus facilities.
  1. NCKU Resource Room Map
NCKU has established multiple Resource Rooms across the Kuang-Fu, Cheng-Hsin, Tzu-Chiang, and Sheng-Li campuses, providing learning support, mental health counseling, and daily life assistance. These Resource Rooms are dedicated to supporting students with disabilities and also include counseling and guidance centers, ensuring that students receive timely support in both their academic and personal lives.







 
  1. The map of accessible facilities, nursing room, priority parking for women and children and gender-friendly toilet, inside NCKU
NCKU has developed a “Friendly Campus Map” that clearly marks accessible ramps, elevators, restrooms, and parking spaces. It also indicates the locations of breastfeeding rooms, gender-friendly restrooms, priority parking for women and children, women’s reading areas, and gender-friendly sports facilities. This map is publicly available to all faculty and students, providing convenience for persons with disabilities, women, and gender-diverse groups, thereby ensuring a safe and equitable learning and living environment.








 
  1. NCKU Campus Accessibility Facilities Inventory and Improvement Measures Plan
NCKU promotes the “Campus Accessibility Facilities Inventory and Improvement Measures Plan.” Through on-site inspections and discussions conducted by dedicated task groups, the university reviews facilities such as ramps, restrooms, elevators, and entrances, and develops improvement measures. This plan ensures that campus spaces gradually meet accessibility standards, enhancing convenience and safety for students and faculty members with disabilities as well as the entire campus community.


 
  1. 113 Academic Year NCKU's housing service division provides reserved beds for students in need such as disability
NCKU provides reserved dormitory beds to safeguard the housing rights of students with disabilities. Eligible applicants must hold an official disability identification card issued by the government or a certification from the Ministry of Education’s special education evaluation. For those requiring caregiver accommodation due to difficulties in independent living, approval may be granted following evaluation by the Resource Classroom, review by relevant units, and final authorization by the Dean of Student Affairs.


 
  1. NCKU Workplace Resource Summary for Faculty and Staff with Disabilities
NCKU supports faculty and staff with disabilities by compiling a comprehensive set of workplace resources both on and off campus. On-campus support includes daily living assistance (health management, psychological counseling, library access), environmental improvements (accessible facilities), job accommodations (training and support programs), and childcare services. Off-campus resources provide disability identification certification, medical and rehabilitation subsidies, and mental health services.
