NCKU's Disability Support Services

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has a dedicated Resource Classroom that provides comprehensive support services for students with disabilities, including academic assistance, living guidance, psychological counseling, and career planning.

For hearing-impaired students, the university offers real-time transcription services in selected classes to support their academic learning.

The Resource Classroom handbook and related service information are publicly available on the official website, and students can apply for individualized support as needed.

In addition, the “NCKU Deep Cultivation Assistance Program” and the “Special Education Work Plan” offer various types of support and coordinated efforts among university offices to help students with special needs adapt smoothly to campus life.

All service information, application procedures, and available support are fully transparent, demonstrating NCKU’s strong commitment to supporting and ensuring the equal rights of people with disabilities.

  1. Create a beautiful page with NCKU listening and speaking services for hearing-impaired students, enriching the silent world

NCKU provides “real-time transcription services” for hearing-impaired students, ensuring they can fully access classroom knowledge. With professional captioners, these students overcome auditory barriers and participate equally alongside peers. This initiative demonstrates NCKU’s commitment to educational equity, creating a beautiful page of learning that enriches the silent world.

  1. Resource Room Handbook

NCKU’s Resource Classroom publishes the Resource Manual, integrating key support services for students, including tuition waivers, housing and special bed applications, accessible facilities, counseling, and learning assistance. The handbook clearly lists responsible units, contact details, and timelines, ensuring that disadvantaged and disabled students can quickly access information and secure their educational and living rights.

  1. NCKU Student Assistance and Development Program

NCKU, in line with the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Sprout Project, has established the “NCKU Sprout Assistance Program” to provide support mechanisms for disadvantaged students. Eligible recipients include officially enrolled students from low-income households, middle-to-low-income households, students with disabilities or their children, as well as children or grandchildren from special hardship backgrounds. This initiative ensures the educational rights of students with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups.

  1. NCKU 2024 (Academic Year 113) Special Education Work Plan

NCKU, in accordance with the Special Education Act, formulates an “Annual Special Education Work Plan” each year. The plan aims to provide students with disabilities the least restrictive learning environment, supporting them in realizing their potential and adapting to campus life. The program serves NCKU students with certified disabilities and includes peer assistance, housing applications, academic tutoring, environmental accommodations, financial aid, counseling, and career planning support. The plan is coordinated and implemented by the Resource Classroom, in collaboration with both on-campus and external resources, to ensure equitable education and comprehensive support for all students.
