NCKU is once again honored to be the only institution in Taiwan with nominating rights.
TEP was founded in 2020. The prize aims to select five winners annually through a rigorous evaluation process, addressing five key global environmental challenges: "Protect and restore nature," "Clean our air," "Revive our oceans," "Build a waste-free world," and "Fix our climate." The prize focuses on identifying innovative ideas, technologies, systems, policies, and solutions.
Liu Chuan-Pu is NCKU’s Vice President for the Office of Research and Development. He stated that NCKU is one of 347 global nominating organizations and is deeply honored to continue being among the 38 institutions worldwide that are accepting proposals. NCKU serves the East and Southeast Asia regions, which is a significant recognition of the university’s long-standing dedication to social impact and sustainable development. Liu hopes that with this opportunity, NCKU can discover and nominate the most impactful solutions from not only the university but also enterprises and various fields, and work together to contribute to the planet’s sustainability.
NCKU sincerely invites all individuals or organizations concerned about global environmental issues to participate in this call for proposals. Whether you are a scientist, advocate, leader, community member, NGO, government agency, business, or even a city or country, if you present an ambitious, impactful solution, you have the chance to earn this prestigious honor.
If you or your organization have an exciting, inclusive, and impactful solution, please contact Mr. Yang from NCKU's Office of Research and Development for further discussions. You can also visit The Earthshot Prize’s official website to learn more about the award and the selection process.
As the sole nominating institution in Taiwan, NCKU will accept proposals until Friday, November 15, 2024. Nominations will then be submitted according to The Earthshot Prize Committee’s schedule. Five final winners will be selected. Each winning solution will receive £1 million in support from The Earthshot Prize.
