The annual "NCKU College of Science Science Fair," an annual science feast in the Tainan area, is back! On November 12th, at the first floor of the Physics Building at the College of Science, NCKU, there will be a "Science Fair" and several hands-on "Science Classrooms." This year, there will also be special lectures for high school students called "Meeting with the Masters." Students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, NCKU, will introduce the formula racing cars they designed and produced. Everyone is welcome to enjoy science for "free"!
The "NCKU College of Science Science Education Center" holds large-scale science popularization events during the university's anniversary celebration every year. This year's science popularization event brings together five departments within the College of Science and high schools in the Tainan area for joint planning. In the science popularization event, students from NCKU will serve as science instructors, translating complex scientific principles into accessible knowledge for children through hands-on activities. The goal is to let everyone feel the beauty of science through hands-on learning. NCKU will continue to contribute to Tainan's knowledge inheritance and transmission.
The "Science Fair" event is divided into six dynamic performance areas, including "Physics," "Mathematics," "Chemistry," "Optoelectronics," "Earth Sciences," and the "Science Education Center." Students from Tzu Chi High School and De-Kuang High School are also invited to introduce fun experiments in chemistry and physics. "Meeting with the Masters" invites laser expert and NCKU College of Science Dean Ching-Cherng Sun to analyze the mysteries of this year's Nobel Prize in Physics for the students.
The "Science Classrooms" are tailor-made activities for children, with students from various departments within the College of Science serving as science instructors. Through hands-on activities, children can learn about science and discover its charm. There are a total of nine interesting courses in the "Science Classrooms," with each classroom providing 40-50 spots. There are 13 sessions in total (please refer to the above image). Due to limited teaching resources, reservations are required. Some on-site spots are also reserved for each session, with on-site registration starting at 9 AM for morning sessions and 1 PM for afternoon sessions. For detailed information, please visit the official event website.
During the Science Fair, there will also be a "Collecting Science Trading Cards" activity. In addition to collecting science-packed trading cards, participants can exchange nine cards for a small science toy at the service desk (limited quantities, while supplies last). The first 100 participants in the morning session will also receive an "Early Bird Science Gift." Through activities such as the "Science Fair," "Science Classrooms," and "Science Trading Cards," the organizers hope to lead the public to experience the power of science together.
