To promote cross-cultural exchange and showcase the depth of campus internationalization, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) grandly hosted the “2026 World Cultural Food Carnival” on March 28. The event was organized by the Division of Overseas Students and Scholars under the Office of International Affairs, with international students from around the world setting up booths. Through authentic cuisine, traditional crafts, and cultural performances, the event offered faculty and students an immersive journey across global cultures.
The atmosphere on the day of the event was vibrant and lively. The opening performance featured the powerful and dynamic “24 Festive Drums” presented by Malaysian students, setting an energetic tone for the carnival. This was followed by soothing guitar performances and a series of captivating dance acts, creating a rich and festive multicultural ambiance across the campus. Throughout the performances, booth representatives introduced their cultural backgrounds, signature foods, and unique products, fully demonstrating NCKU’s spirit of diversity and inclusivity.
The food carnival showcased a wide array of highlights, with each country presenting its most iconic dishes. Visitors enjoyed aromatic Vietnamese Crab Soup, flavorful Indian Pani Puri, refreshing Thai Milk Tea, and smooth, chewy Burmese Coconut Jelly, among many others. In addition to the culinary delights, Indonesian and Indian booths featured cultural experience zones, offering handcrafted items, interactive games, and even body painting activities, allowing participants to engage more deeply with diverse cultural traditions.
The event attracted enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and members of the public, creating a lively and interactive environment. Through the engaging introductions by booth hosts, visitors gained deeper insights into the culinary traditions and cultural backgrounds of different countries. Many attendees shared that the event felt like “traveling around the world,” and helped them develop a greater appreciation for global food cultures.
Amid waves of laughter and joyful interaction, the “2026 World Cultural Food Carnival” concluded successfully. The event not only provided a feast of international flavors, but also fostered mutual understanding and cultural inclusion on campus, effectively demonstrating NCKU’s commitment to expanding global perspectives.
