Since May, the R & D Office has been holding the "The Carbon Almanac Study Group" every week, which is composed of the head of the R & D Office. The study groups are guided by Chuan-Pu Liu, Shun-Fen Tzeng and Min-Fu Hsieh. Through reading by each group of colleagues in turn, they have an amazing exchange on the greenhouse effect, climate change and other related issues to enhance their understanding of the international trend of carbon reduction. Since its launch, this activity has brought a lot of inspiration for carbon reduction in life and a sense of participation in campus sustainability.
On June 12, in response to the "Campus Reusable Container Delivery Project" initiated by NCKU Circular Economy, the R&D office introduced the partner merchants into the lunch selection of the study group for the first time. By experiencing the burden-free ordering with reusable tableware, the reducing of disposable food containers, and the carbon reduction without losing the quality of dining, the colleagues present affirmed and approved of this approach. The R&D office also promised to use reusable tableware in the conference as much as possible in the future, and encouraged colleagues to bring their own tableware, containers and shopping bags in their daily life, so that carbon reduction starts from themselves.
On that day, the R & D office invited the president of Circular Economy, Zhi-Qing Zhu, and the academic director, Cheng-Ju Hsu, to explain the proposal of reusable tableware to the teachers and colleagues, including the process and future planning of adding more stores for cooperation, and also called on all offices and individuals to adopt reusable tableware on their own initiative. According to an article written by RETHINK in collaboration with teacher Hsin-Tien Lin from the Department of Environmental Engineering, the analysis of 18 environmental impact indicators showed that 10 of the reusable containers won, especially the reduction of ozone layer destruction, land use and mineral resources consumption.
