NCKU Hospital and six health institutions in the Southwest Coast Region signed a cooperation memorandum
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Hospital and six medical institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Welfare in the southwest coast region signed a memorandum of cooperation on June 13 at the NCKU Dacheng Hall. The signing aims to deepen collaboration in healthcare, education, and research to enhance medical standards, improve healthcare quality, and provide better health care and medical services to local residents.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Jing-Wei Lee, President of NCKU Hospital, and Mr. Ching-Feng Lin, Executive Director of the Health Promotion Administration, representing the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Witnessing the signing were Dr. Meng-Ru Shen, President of NCKU, and Mr. Yung-Min Chang, Director-General Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The six medical institutions under the Ministry of Health and Welfare include: Chiayi Hospital, Puzi Hospital, Xinying Hospital, Tainan Hospital, Chest Hospital, and Jiannan Psychiatric Center.
Mr. Yung-Min Chang expressed anticipation for strengthening and expanding the existing cooperation relationship to enhance medical cooperation, personnel exchange, and teaching and research between the two parties, thereby improving the quality of medical services in the southern region.
President Shen mentioned the importance of public hospitals in the three-year pandemic, emphasizing the close collaboration that has been established for patient triage between the public hospital system. Today's ceremony witnessed this collaboration in a historic century-old building, with hopes for a long-standing relationship between national universities and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Executive Director Ching-Feng Lin stated that NCKU and the Health Promotion Administration are united as one entity, with NCKU Hospital and the Health Promotion Administration sharing a common mission in public healthcare. It is hoped that, under the efforts of the directors and colleagues of each hospital, they will work together to create a high-quality environment in the Yunlin-Chiayi-Nantou region.

Hospitals of different levels can leverage their respective strengths, learn from each other, and combine their advantages to build a sound medical ecosystem in southern Taiwan.
