NCKU Computer Science Department Partners with Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Establish Interdisciplinary Academic Bridge
The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital held a signing ceremony on July 1, 2024. The ceremony, hosted by Vice Superintendent Jun-Liang Lin of Chiayi Chang Gung, was attended by Shyh-Hau Wang, Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at NCKU, and Qing-Chuan Xie, Director of the Medical Research Department at Chiayi Chang Gung, who represented both institutions in signing the memorandum of understanding (MOU). The signing was witnessed by numerous representatives, symbolizing a deepened collaboration between the two institutions. This partnership highlights a shared vision of promoting interdisciplinary research and educational exchanges in the fields of information technology and medicine. Through the MOU, the two sides aim to explore innovative applications in healthcare and information technology, building a solid academic bridge between the fields.
More than 20 representatives from both NCKU and Chiayi Chang Gung attended the signing ceremony. From Chiayi Chang Gung, the attendees included Dr. Dong-Ru He, Dr. Ming-Shao Cai, Dr. Jie-Mo Lin, Dr. Ming-Xian Lin, Dr. Wei-Xiu Xu, Dr. Ding-Zhong Wang, Section Chief Li-Tun Huang of the Medical Research Department, Dr. Jian-Wei Chen from the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Dr. Jun-Liang Chen from the Department of Orthopedics, and Dr. You-Sheng Lin. From NCKU, attendees included Dean Fu-Zen Shaw of the College of Social Sciences, Professor Sheng-Fu Liang from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, Associate Professor Chi-Yeh Chen, Project Manager Ying-An Su from the Digital Center, Project Manager Ya-Fen Huang from the Digital Center, Ph.D. candidate Ren-Yi Lin from the Department of Psychology, and Assistant Manager Yu Cai from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. The event was warm and cordial.
Under this collaboration agreement, NCKU’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and Chiayi Chang Gung will actively promote academic exchanges and cooperation. Plans include an end-of-year presentation, special lectures, and student internship exchanges. These activities will not only enrich students’ learning experiences but also strengthen professional exchange and collaboration between the two institutions in the field of medical informatics, enhancing academic depth and professional expertise.
Through their partnership, NCKU’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital aim to further strengthen educational and research ties, jointly driving the integration of medicine and information technology. This solid academic bridge will serve as a foundation for future innovations in healthcare and technology, facilitating mutual growth and development in academic research and educational training.
