The 113th Gender Film Festival will take place on October 29, inviting teachers and students to explore diverse gender cultures
The 113th Gender Film Festival, co-hosted by the Gender Equality Education Committee, the Mental Health and Counseling Group, and the College of Intelligent Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing, will kick off on October 29 in the First Lecture Hall of the International Conference Hall. This year, the event collaborates again with the Taiwan Women’s Film Association to present four thought-provoking films from the United States, Canada, and Turkey: An Army of Women, Hue: A Matter of Colour, Blue ID, and The Great Flop. The festival invites all students interested in gender issues to join and explore the diverse dimensions of gender culture.
The Gender Film Festival aims to present diverse gender perspectives through film, providing viewers with insights into how gender intersects with other social issues such as ethnicity and class. By doing so, it highlights alternative voices and needs often overlooked by mainstream society. The post-screening discussions will be led by facilitators who will guide participants in exploring key issues related to diverse gender cultures. These discussions aim to deepen the understanding of the social situations reflected in the films, engage in dialogues about existing gender concepts, values, attitudes, and issues, and promote the significance of gender mainstreaming. Ultimately, the festival seeks to challenge gender biases, stereotypes, and discrimination, fostering a more harmonious and respectful society.
