NCKU's International Workshop on Soil and Water Conservation and International Symposium on Sustainable Water Environment
Starting on October 28, NCKU will host the International Workshop on Soil and Water Conservation and the International Symposium on Sustainable Water Environment, attracting participants from 13 countries, including Japan, Australia, and the U.S. These events aim to establish an international research platform for sustainable water management, leveraging collaboration between public sectors, industry, and academia to develop global soil and water protection practices, particularly for the Asia-Pacific region.
Organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Sustainable Environment at NCKU, with support from the National Science and Technology Council, the Ministry of Environment, and various academic and environmental organizations, the events align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on clean water (SDG 6), climate action (SDG 13), and ecosystem conservation (SDG 15).
During the opening ceremony, key speakers, including NCKU's R&D Director Quan-Pu Liu and the Ministry of Environment's Director-General Hsu-Ming Yen, highlighted Taiwan's ongoing efforts in soil and water conservation in the Asia-Pacific. The workshop will provide valuable training in soil, groundwater, waste, and resource recycling, while the symposium will showcase 26 research papers on water quality, recycling technologies, and emerging pollutants.
These events are part of NCKU's initiative to foster international collaboration and strengthen Taiwan's role in sustainable water research.
