Department of Resource Engineering's Hsin-Yu Chen won the "Best Student Poster Competition Award" from AOGS Singapore.
Master student Hsin-Yu Chen from the Department of Resources Engineering attended the 20th Annual Conference of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) in Singapore in August 2023 and was honored with the Best Student Poster Award in the Interdisciplinary Geoscience category. He was the only Taiwanese student among the awardees in this field at the conference.
The Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) is one of the most important annual events in the field of Earth Sciences in the Asia-Pacific region, alongside the European Geosciences Union (EGU) and the American Geophysical Union (AGU), making it one of the three major Earth Science conferences worldwide. The AOGS conference attracts Earth Science researchers and experts from around the world, with over 3,000 participants from 47 countries this year and over 1,000 posters presented for academic exchange.
Hsin-Yu Chen's research in the Interdisciplinary Geoscience field focused on Inter-catchment Groundwater Flow (IGF), highlighting the importance of lateral groundwater flow, which has often been overlooked in the past. Hsin-Yu Chen expressed gratitude for the funding support from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC-112-2922-I-006-151), which enabled his participation in this internationally influential academic event. He was able to utilize the opportunity to present his research findings from his master's program and gain insights into the research developments and academic exchange experiences in Earth Sciences from various countries.
