NCKU Partners with Global Views to Launch “Practical Leadership and Strategic Transformation in the AI Era”
The series officially commenced on September 20 at NCKU’s Chi-Tsung Campus Smart Lecture Hall, with Associate Dean of AISSM, Ming-Chi Chou, delivering the opening remarks. He emphasized the principle that “Usage drives innovation, and innovation drives growth,” encouraging participants to seize the learning opportunity and transform AI-driven challenges into forces for organizational growth. Chou noted that as technology continues to evolve rapidly and global supply chains are being restructured, leaders must constantly strengthen strategic thinking and organizational resilience to remain competitive over the next decade.
Hsiao-Hua Liang, CEO of the Leadership Impact Institute, also addressed the audience, noting that while AI accelerates the pace of both markets and technology, the core values of leadership—mission and principles, professional depth, and resilience—remain unchanged. She emphasized that modern leaders must also develop the abilities of human-machine collaboration, critical thinking, and empathy to guide their teams through uncertainty and create new opportunities.
The “Practical Leadership and Strategic Transformation in the AI Era” course integrates theoretical depth, real-world industry cases, and interactive group discussions. It aims to help participants grasp global political and economic dynamics, organizational transformation practices, and cross-cultural integration, cultivating leaders who are globally minded, innovative, and resilient in the face of change.
The curriculum consists of four main modules: AI-Era Leadership, Transformation and Risk Governance, Global Supply Chain and Strategic Deployment, and Sustainability and Cross-Cultural Leadership. The first session, “AI-Era Leadership,” was taught by Ding-Lu Yu, President of Applied Materials Taiwan, and included a case study group discussion. Following sessions feature distinguished speakers from three sectors: semiconductors, electronics, and education/service industries.
In the semiconductor sector, speakers include Bing-Sheng Wu (Chairman, Himax Technologies), Hui-Ming Chen(Semiconductor Industry Analyst), and Yung-Pei Chin (Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer, TSMC).
In the electronics sector, speakers include Chun-Sheng Ho (Co-founder, Advantech), Ching-Yao Shen (Chief Operating and Technology Officer, Wistron), and Lian-Sung Weng (Chairman’s Special Assistant, BenQ Qisda Group).
In the education and service sector, speakers include Chu-Sheng Hsu (Adjunct Professor, NTU Leadership Program; former General Manager, IBM Taiwan; former CEO, GE Taiwan), Huey-Jen Jenny Su (Independent Director, Novatek; former NCKU President), Chris Jamison (Executive Director for Asia-Pacific International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology), Fang-Cheng Shen (CEO, The L’Hotel Group), and Hsu-Lieh Hao (Financial Author; former TSMC Finance Executive and Nanya Technology Special Assistant to the President).
The current class includes around 45 participants, mainly senior executives from NCKU’s Executive Master’s Program in Semiconductor Management and R&D (TSMM) and Executive MBA Program (EMBA). Most students are experienced managers in the semiconductor and technology industries. Through cross-disciplinary perspectives and shared industry insights, the program seeks to cultivate high-level semiconductor leaders capable of navigating global transformations and driving continued innovation in both Taiwan’s and the world’s semiconductor sectors.
