On May 15, 2023, the Tainan Pink Dot held an activity to respond to International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia(IDAHOTB). They invited Dr. Tsung-Yu Liu, known as "Dr. Liu Jr.", to deliver a lecture on the current medical situation and gender dilemmas, and to share her views on sexual education from a physician's perspective.
Dr. Liu often shares what she sees and hears in the hospital and her concern for labor rights on the Internet.
"Medical job is a job that connects people, and I hope to share my feelings with everyone." Dr. Liu often shares what she sees and hears in the hospital and her concern for labor rights on the Internet. These voices were not only collected in a book, but also adapted into a medical situational comedy, "村裡來了個暴走女外科," by Taiwan Public Television in 2022. In contrast to other surgical dramas, Dr. Liu's writing reveals the problem of overwork in hospitals: "One operation after another, until dawn the next day, and the next day's shift starts again." The dilemma for women is often more complex, and they need to face the dual pressures of pregnancy and workload. When Dr. Liu speaks out on the Internet, she is often attacked with misogynistic comments.
Dr.Liu’s lecture was interesting that the audience laughed out loud.
In clinical experience, Dr. Liu found that sex education today still has shortcomings. For the question of "how were you born", the older generation often avoids talking about sex, using dislike and deception to answer that the child is "found" or "popped out of the stone". Dr. Liu explained from a scientific point of view, in the process of growth, children will be like a sponge to absorb the words and actions of their parents. If parents show fear of sex, children will also learn from their fear of sex.

"If you do not teach properly, porn videos will help you teach." Children's curiosity cannot be stopped, Dr. Liu pointed out, porn videos are often exaggerated and untrue, even with elements of distorted violence, and will give children the wrong perception. When children ask sex-related questions, rather than avoiding them, parents can take three steps: stop fearing, affirm their curiosity and listen to their questions and opinions, talk openly and convey the right knowledge. Finally, Dr. Liu encouraged everyone to move past their fears and not be afraid to talk about sex education and gender issues so that society can continue to move forward.
