NCKU’s AISSM and Global Views Publishing Group Launch “AI-Driven Enterprise Growth and Organizational Transformation”
The opening ceremony of the program was held on March 14 at the Chi-Duan Hall in NCKU’s Tzu-Chiang Campus. Dean Wei-Chou Hsu delivered remarks on behalf of the NCKU AISSM, encouraging participants to cultivate a macro-level perspective and forward-looking decision-making capabilities in an era of rapid advancements in AI and semiconductor technologies. He emphasized that, in the wave of AI development, learning to use AI as an assistive tool can help improve human life. This was followed by a keynote speech titled “The Vision and Courage of Leaders” delivered by Charles Kao, founder of Global Views–CommonWealth Publishing Group, who shared his profound insights gained from years of observing business operations and societal development.
Kao opened his speech with a light and humorous tone, sharing observations from his teaching experience in the United States and recounting interactions with leaders and scholars from various countries. He pointed out that the key to corporate success lies in the values and vision of leadership, and proposed “12 Principles for Successful Business Management,” including ideas such as integrity as the foundation of conduct, quality as the priority in execution, the importance of not only ideas but also implementation, the necessity of continuous reading and learning to keep pace with the times, and the principle that creating opportunities is more important than managing details. He emphasized that leaders should possess an open mindset and a long-term perspective in order to identify opportunities and cultivate talent in a changing environment. He also called on enterprises and society to work together to narrow the wealth gap, strengthen the middle class, and build a healthier industrial and social structure. He further stated that truly outstanding leaders must achieve a balance between professional competence and moral character. After his speech, he presented participants with books on management and leadership, encouraging continuous reading and lifelong learning to deepen leadership thinking and management concepts explored in the course.
NCKU Honorary Professor Huey-Jen Su, in her introductory remarks, stated that “enterprises create the economy, ideas shape society, and the continuous dialogue between the two drives societal transformation,” emphasizing that leadership is reflected in value choices, future responsibilities, and the persistence and manifestation of vision. Following this, Hsiao-Hua Liang, Executive Director of the Global Views–CommonWealth Leadership Impact Academy, delivered a keynote speech. Building on the academy’s early launch of AI leadership trend courses in 2023, he spoke on “The Impact of AI Trends on Leadership,” emphasizing the vision and responsibilities of leaders. He advocated for “understanding AI, leveraging AI, and becoming agents of change,” and analyzed how generative AI and data technologies are profoundly transforming corporate decision-making, organizational culture, and leadership models. He identified three key responsibilities for leaders in the AI era: first, to lead the environment rather than be changed by it; second, to consider where AI-related power is applied; and third, to address the impact of AI on talent structures.
The program also invited numerous distinguished speakers from industry and academia to share practical experiences, including Hui-Yu Wu, Chairperson of KINSUS Interconnect Technology Corp.; Jun-Yang Lin, Chairman of Tyntek Corporation; Chen-Yu Lee, Chief Economist of Taishin Financial Holdings; Chun-Pi Lin, Head of Automotive Business Transformation at FIT Hon Teng; Jason Chansiton, Executive Director of International Affairs, Asia-Pacific, Georgia Institute of Technology; Chih-Jen Sheng, Chairman of Hotel Royal Chihpen; Jien-Chen Pan, CEO of Phison Electronics; Kao-Hsun Chang, General Manager of King Yuan Electronics; Yen-Nan Huang, Executive Director of the Information and Communications Security Research Center, Academia Sinica; Kuang-Hua Ma, General Manager of Unimicron Technology Corp.; Ching-Tai Shih, Chairman of the Pan Wen Yuan Foundation; and Professor Cheng-Neng Huang of the University of Washington, among other industry and academic leaders, who shared insights on industry trends and global management experience.
The course curriculum is centered on the rapid changes and international competition in the semiconductor industry and is structured into three major modules: “Leadership and Change Management from a Transformation Perspective,” “Data-Driven Management and Process Innovation,” and “AI Talent and Agile Organizations.” Through case studies of industry benchmarks and practical insights, the program helps senior executives adopt macro-strategic thinking to respond to market changes, drive organizational reform, and leverage AI and data to establish agile and efficient decision-making and talent development mechanisms.
NCKU College of Semiconductor Sciences stated that it will continue to integrate academic and industry resources in the future and, through interdisciplinary course design, cultivate leadership talent with both technological vision and management capability, thereby strengthening Taiwan’s critical position in the global semiconductor industry.
