NCKU hosted a high-level delegation from India’s SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) on March 13 to formally renew their university-level MoU and Student Exchange Agreement (SEA). The ceremony was witnessed by leaders from NCKU’s Office of International Affairs, the College of Engineering, and the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Prof. Yuh-Neu Chen, Executive Vice President of NCKU, opened the ceremony by expressing her delight at the fruitful research collaboration between the two institutions. She emphasized that this partnership is a practical commitment to tackling global scientific challenges together and hoped the renewal would further broaden international horizons for both faculty and students.
The NCKU-SRMIST partnership has yielded remarkable results. According to SciVal, scholars from both sides have co-authored 39 publications over the past six years, primarily in Energy, Environmental Science, and Chemical Engineering. Notably, these works achieved a Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) of 22.56, significantly exceeding global averages and demonstrating the immense influence of their joint research.
The SRMIST delegation, led by Chairman Dr. Shivakumar and Dr. Sanmugasundaram, was received by a hosting team headed by Vice President for International Affairs, Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, alongside Prof. Chen-Ming Kuo (Vice Dean of Engineering) and Prof. Jenn-Jier James Lien (Vice Dean of EECS). Discussions focused on flexible student exchange quotas and future transnational industry-academia collaborations.
Following the ceremony, NCKU hosted a lunch to further strengthen ties. As India remains a key partner under the New Southbound Policy, NCKU stays committed to fostering top-tier, competitive talent through substantive academic and cultural exchanges with world-class institutions like SRMIST.
