Breaking Through the Talent Shortage, Nearly 10,000 People Flocked to NCKU to Participate in the 2023 Southern Taiwan Job Fair
The largest job fair in Southern Taiwan, the "2023 South Taiwan Job Fair," took place on March 12 at National Cheng Kung University's Kuang Fu Campus. With 254 companies offering over 14,000 job opportunities, attracting nearly 10,000 job applicants to the event. There were job opportunities from both domestic and overseas and a wide range of job requirements, and the atmosphere was enthusiastic.
The 2023 Southern Taiwan Job Fair was a large-scale event with a wide range of industries. According to job applicants' observation, some of the job openings at the fair emphasize cross-discipline integration ability; for non-graduates, companies place more emphasis on work experience accumulation and work attitude. In response to the epidemic, some job applicants also indicated that they would target foreign companies to look for overseas job opportunities.

On behalf of Tainan Mayor Wei-Che Huang ,Hsin-Ch Wang, Director of Tainan Labor Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government, attended the opening event of the Southern Taiwan Job Fair and visited many enterprises' booths before the event. Hsin-Ch Wang said that many enterprises mentioned that "we must come to NCKU to grab talents, and we can't miss the job fair of NCKU", which shows that the industry attaches great importance to this job fair. The Southern Taiwan Job Fair was held at NCKU, and the citizens of Tainan City benefited the most. Tainan has the lowest unemployment rate in the six capital cities for four consecutive years, and director Wang thanked all sectors for their joint efforts to create beautiful results, and wished the enterprises and job applicants present today all the best and success as they wished.
Huei-Shiang Hsu, deputy director of the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Regional Branch, said that the job fair at NCKU is the largest one in southern Taiwan, and it is also an event that many companies compete to come to, and it is in demand every year. She hopes that enterprises and job applicants can find the best talents and the most satisfying jobs under the warm sun today. The 2023 Southern Taiwan Job Fair was held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The opening ceremony was held in the morning with representatives from co-sponsoring schools, public sector and industry, including: TSMC Account Product Director at Applied Materials Mr. Pei, Executive Director of UMC, Mr. Chuang, and Senior Manager of Recruiting at Acemore Taiwan. Ltd. and Mr. Chou, Senior Manager of Recruiting at ASML Taiwan.
The 2023 Southern Taiwan Job Fair was co-organized by NCKU and 11 colleges and universities in southern Taiwan. 53 job information sessions were held from March 9 to 12, and job applicants registered online in advance to participate regardless of their status or age. A total of 324 booths were set up at the job fair today (March 12), with job openings in a wide range of industries, including human resources agency, public sector, semiconductor, transportation, transportation and warehousing, optoelectronics, department store and retail distribution, real estate, real estate, finance, insurance, architecture, construction, professional, scientific and technical services, education services, software and network, electronics, telecommunications, computer peripherals, manufacturing, food and beverage, tourism and lodging, environmental protection, and healthcare. At the event,many companies launched a variety of activities to attract the attention of job applicants. For example, Taiwan Cement used an electric car barrier game to let job applicants learn the layout of its renewable energy, electric car battery, green energy and other related industries besides cement through the game.
In order to strengthen the diversity of recruitment, the organizer added the demand for PhD students in addition to local and foreign students on the website to strengthen the layout of employment opportunities for PhD graduates. According to the statistics, there were 172 enterprises with demand for PhD graduates and 162 enterprises with job opportunities for foreign students. A new co-organizer, Contact Taiwan, also set up a booth to counsel foreign students to stay and work in Taiwan.
