The National Cheng Kung University Art Center at the Guangfu Campus is hosting the "V-10 Five@Tainan" photography exhibition from now until April 15. The exhibition features works by five artists from the V-10 period: Ling Zhuang, Yong-Song Huang , Ying-Sheng Guo, Bai-Liang Lin, and Zhen-Xiang Liu, showcasing their works from the V-10 period, Tainan-themed photography, and representative works. The aim is to allow Tainan audiences to revisit the past through the lens and experience the enthusiasm for photography.

After a hiatus of 20 years, Taiwan's earliest interdisciplinary art group, the "V-10 Visual Arts Group," has once again launched a photography exhibition. The opening ceremony was held at the Guangfu Campus of NCKU this afternoon (18th), and President Meng-Ru Shen arrived early to attend the exhibition with artist Ling Zhuang. President Shen expressed, "Beauty is everywhere. I personally love art and used to spend a lot of time in galleries when I studied in the UK. Appreciating art brings joy and cultivates the mind. Art is also an important educational content of a university; I have a dream to build a building at NCKU representing the humanities and arts spirit."

NCKU Vice President Yuh-Neu Chen was deeply impressed by the artwork "Urban Marginalized People" in this exhibition. Vice President Chen expressed that images can complement the deficiencies in memory and history. Through photography, we can see more aspects that we haven't cared about or observed before. With Tainan about to celebrate its 400th anniversary next year, perhaps we can also review and understand history from this perspective. She also praised the rich exhibition presented with the assistance of NCKU's Graduate Institute of Art Studies and Photography Club.

Curator and NCKU professor Ya-Lun Wang stated that since the 19th century, photography has established its position amid the struggle between art and science. In the 20th century, after wars, it became a witness and a spiritual outlet for artists. After World War II, it became an indispensable element of composite art. In the East, in Taiwan, amidst the political difficulties of the 1950s and 60s, and the restricted artistic creation atmosphere, this group of creators possessed modern consciousness and innovative spirit. They have been practicing artistic concepts in various fields for decades. "If you missed those years, then fortunately you can still participate in this photography feast that spans 50 years."

Curator and artist Ling Zhuang stated that V-10 was an image art group founded in 1971. At that time, there were no organizational regulations or membership fees. It was only agreed to hold group exhibitions of image creation every two or three years, with different members participating each time, and never all members. It was a completely loose art group. This exhibition is also traditional, bringing together five people who are still creating, each leaving their affection and admiration for the cultural ancient capital of Tainan from different times and perspectives. Through this exhibition, V-10's 50-year journey of image creation concept practice and results are presented, providing references for all image workers and amateur enthusiasts in Taiwan. It is also hoped that in the future, the works of everyone in Taiwan will have personal uniqueness and independence, enabling the development of Taiwanese images to keep pace with the international level.

The opening tea party of the exhibition on the 18th was attended by many distinguished guests, making it an important historical moment in Taiwan's art scene. The five exhibiting artists personally attended, along with several executives and teachers from NCKU, to experience the masters' demeanor firsthand. Tainan City Cultural Affairs Bureau Acting Director Xiu-cheng Chen and many friends from the cultural and historical circles, education industry, and arts and cultural circles also attended the event. "V-10 Visual Arts Group" President Ling Zhuang presented the exhibition catalog to Yi-Fang Wu, Director of the Taiwan Art History Center and NCKU's Graduate Institute of Art Studies. This was followed by humorous and witty remarks by NCKU History Department and Graduate Institute of Art Studies Honorary Professor Chong-Ray SIAO, who led the audience to recall the era atmosphere of Taiwan in 1971 and introduced the creative characteristics of the five heavyweight artists, kicking off the "V-10 Five@Tainan" photography exhibition in a splendid manner.

The "V-10 Visual Arts Group," known as one of Taiwan's most senior idol groups in the film industry, was established in the early 1970s and was Taiwan's earliest interdisciplinary art creation group. It brought together 10 artists from different art fields, including fine arts, photography, painting, newspaper editing, TV news, and film photography: Yong Hu , Guo-Xiong Zhang, Si-Liang Long, Ling Zhuang, Ming-Sheng Ling, Zhenji Xie, Zhao-Tang Zhang, Dong-Guo Zhou, Zheng-Liang Ye, and Ying-Sheng Guo. The V-10 Visual Arts Group advocates for "experimental, exploratory, and creative art forms and styles," presenting works with strong experimental and design-oriented styles.

NCKU Vice President Yuh-Neu Chen expressed deep impression towards the exhibition piece "Urban Marginalized Individuals" and commended the rich presentation of the exhibition, with assistance from students of the Graduate Institute of Art Studies and the Photography Society.

The opening reception of the "V-10 Five Individuals @ Tainan" photography exhibition witnessed a gathering of distinguished guests, marking a significant moment in Taiwan's art scene history.

Curated by Professor Ya-Lun Wang from NCKU's Graduate Institute of Art Studies, the "V-10 Five Individuals @ Tainan" photography exhibition invites everyone to participate in this photographic feast spanning 50 years.

The works presented by the "V-10 Visual Arts Group" showcase a strong experimental and design-oriented style, paving the way for the "modern" path in Taiwanese photography. In the image, President Shen Meng-Ru Shen and artist Ling Zhuang are seen together, admiring the exhibition.
