Synergy Correlation

Subverting the initial impressions of desolate land, 9 pieces are scattered like sensory fragments, inviting the audience to embark on an immersive sensory journey. Organized by master's students from the NCKU Techno Art program, the themed exhibition "崎駅點 Mysterious Stop" will be held from December 16, 2023, to January 7, 2024, at No. 37, Building D, Blueprint Cultural and Creative Park, South District, Tainan City. This exhibition engages the public in an artistic dialogue through various forms, showcasing the natural landscapes of Longci as interpreted by emerging artists through the fusion of technology and art. The public is invited to visit and experience this unique event.

"Dear passengers, welcome to 'Mysterious Stop.' Please collect a free ticket and hold on tight; our next stop is Longci."

Longci, located on the southeastern border of Tainan, offers a tranquil mountainous landscape that deviates from the typical greenery. From its heights, one can gaze upon the expansive, majestic Moon World terrain. Despite being labeled as barren land, a closer look reveals a hidden vitality. During a short journey, artists visited Longci Niupu, using their five senses to gradually piece together the true essence of Longci. They discovered its rich ecology, landscapes, culture, and history, stripping away the superficial impressions left by words and photographs. In an instant, Longci transforms from a seemingly lifeless place to one filled with boundless wonder.

This exhibition is guided by Associate Professor Ming Turner from the NCKU Creative Industries Design program and organized by the Tainan City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs and the NCKU Techno Art Master's Program. It is co-organized by the Tainan Community University Environmental Action Group and the NCKU Collaborative Badlands USR Project. NCKU graduate students have created artworks inspired by Longci.

Yi-cheng Zhang’s "Longqi Landscape" and "Longqi Ruins" mix clay with Longqi soil to recreate local geological features using 3D printing technology. Ting-yu Guo’s "Lost in Longqi" reconstructs natural mountain landscapes, inviting viewers to explore and inhabit Longqi from different perspectives through a series of tests. Yi-qi Lin’s "Shape and Color of the Mountains" combines the unique terrain of the exhibition space and the badlands, making visitors feel as if they are emerging from a cave into a dreamlike scenario. Ya-qing Du’s "The Natural Sounds of Longqi" amplifies local sounds in the exhibition space, allowing Longqi itself to narrate its landscape. "Moonlight in Longqi" is an educational and entertaining board game that helps players understand various issues in the Longqi area.

Guan-zhen Li and Li-ting Su’s "Journey of the Mountains" uses models to combine with landscape models, guiding viewers into a whimsical world from a childlike perspective. Zi-yun Zheng’s "Pulse" simplifies the complex mountain shapes into elegant light and shadow layers using mirrors, reconstructing the undulating mountain waves. Hong-yi Chen and Zi-yan Lin’s "Monty" is an artificial baby dragon that simulates life, reflecting the geological landscape and ecology of Longqi, and prompting reflections on the coexistence of humans and nature.

The exhibition emphasizes interaction with the public, in line with the University Social Responsibility (USR) spirit. Yi-cheng Zhang has organized pottery workshops at the Qiding Community Care Center, inviting local residents to create pottery using Longqi soil. During the exhibition, several pottery workshops will also be held at the Blueprint Cultural and Creative Park, allowing Tainan city residents and Longqi locals to experience the unique soil of Longqi, fostering a deeper connection with the area and the Greater Tainan region. Additionally, the "Moonlight in Longqi" board game, inspired by Longqi’s rich ecology and geology, aims to meet SDG sustainable development goals and provide educational and entertaining experiences, helping players understand various issues in the Longqi area.
