National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) continues to bolster startup cultivation efforts! Collaborating with the NCKU alumni, NCKU has established the "Phoenix Entrepreneurship Platform" and organized the "First Golden Phoenix Startup Award". The selection results were announced on March 27th, with a total of 17 out of 30 submitted startup teams selected. On the same day, coaching activities and a startup exchange meeting were initiated. The platform commenced a 6-month coaching program for the selected startup teams, with one of the platform's initiators and NCKU outstanding alumnus, Peter Chen, Chairman of Jia Si Da Technology, present at the event. He expressed his anticipation for the Phoenix Entrepreneurship Platform to connect outstanding alumni and internal research and development resources, collectively revitalizing Taiwan's startup environment.
The "Phoenix Entrepreneurship Platform" is a joint initiative of NCKU and its alumni, officially launched in September last year. It is chaired by NCKU President Meng-Ru Shen. The founders include Lin Fu-Hsing, Chairman of Fubon Life Insurance; Peter Chen, Chairman of Jia Si Da Technology; Yao De-Zhang, Head of NCKU Phoenix Fund; Yan Lou-You, Co-founder of AAMA Taipei Cradle Project; former Minister of Science and Technology Chen Liang-Ji; President of the National Cheng Kung University North America Alumni Foundation Xu Bo-Chang, and NCKU Visiting Expert Casey Yeh. According to Yeh Qi-Xin, the convener of the Phoenix Entrepreneurship Platform, "The platform is a non-profit organization that connects alumni resources and experiences through coaching for the Golden Phoenix startup teams and monthly startup exchange meetings, assisting NCKU's startup teams in stepping out of the campus. Through mentor-guided business-oriented assessments, professional guidance, and industry connections, the platform aims to create startups with investment potential."
Following its establishment, the Phoenix Entrepreneurship Platform collaborated with the NCKU Industry Liaison Office to promote the "First Golden Phoenix Startup Award" application process. The call for applications was completed at the end of November last year, with 30 teams composed of NCKU students, faculty, or alumni applying. Twenty-eight outstanding alumni from various industries worldwide were recruited as mentors, conducting nearly 70 consultation sessions. Seventeen teams were selected to receive a 6-month coaching program as part of the startup award. On the 27th, coaching activities were initiated, inviting NCKU outstanding alumnus and Chairman of Jia Si Da Technology, Peter Chen, to share his secrets of success with the startup teams, hoping that they will inherit the entrepreneurial spirit of outstanding alumni and contribute to the sustainable startup culture at NCKU.
