The NCKU Taiwan Art History Center hosted the "2024 Fieldwork and Locality" International Conference to boost art research
The National Cheng Kung University Taiwan Art History Center held the "2024 Fieldwork and Locality: Archival Research and Re-Exhibition" International Conference on November 12-13 at the College of Liberal Arts, with scholars from the US, India, Japan, and Indonesia participating. The conference aimed to showcase NCKU's art research to the international community.
On November 12, the opening ceremony included remarks from Tainan City Cultural Affairs Deputy Director Wei-Xu Lin, who highlighted the conference's alignment with the "Tainan 400" milestone, emphasizing global collaboration. NCKU College of Liberal Arts Dean Shi-Mei Gao expressed gratitude to retired Professor De-Yu Shi for his efforts in sustaining the conference and acknowledged the support from the Cultural Affairs Bureau, National Human Rights Museum, and NCKU's interdisciplinary projects.
The conference featured extensive discussions on how archival research can contribute to academic advancements, as well as how technology can help preserve and present shared cultural memories. Over two days, scholars presented papers on various topics, including the integration of art, theater, and cross-disciplinary research, with a focus on transforming archives and documents into academic insights.
