The College of Management's EMBA program at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) recently held an orientation camp for the 116th class, led by Dean Yeu-Shiang Huang, EMBA Executive Director Hsuan-Chu Lin, and two mentors, Professor Sheng-Tun Li and Professor Ting-Kai Chou. The President of the EMBA Alumni Association, Ding-Hong Chen, and the President of the EMBA Taipei Alumni Association, I-Sheng Fang, also attended to share their learning and career experiences with the new students.
This year's orientation camp focused on the theme of "Sustainable Development," aiming to guide new students in thinking about and exploring sustainable strategies for corporate and social development. ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) is at the core of sustainable development, while the application of AI provides strong technological support to achieve sustainability goals, making sustainable development more efficient and sustainable while fulfilling responsibilities and commitments to future generations.
Chang-Tai Li, the class representative of the 115th class and the event organizer, explained the inspiration behind the theme. He stated, "Why have we gathered here?" because every gathering is an inspiration and a starting point for seeking answers. "How did we arrive at this venue?" because NCKU provides a bridge of knowledge and a stage for learning. "Why choose to study at NCKU?" because it offers rich academic resources and vast development opportunities. The orientation camp is an "initial inspiration" that not only opens the door to thinking but also embodies the concept of sustainable development. Action is the only answer, and together, the EMBA program will create a better tomorrow!
On the first day of the event, Executive Director Hsuan-Chu Lin inaugurated the opening ceremony, followed by team-building activities and presentations. The next morning, participants took on the adventure challenge at HOTEL CHAM CHAM, pushing their physical limits. In the afternoon, they presented their results, showcasing group proposals and insights on the theme of "Sustainable Development."
Executive Director Hsuan-Chu Lin warmly welcomed the new students to become part of the "NCKU family." He emphasized that the senior executives nurtured by the NCKU EMBA program possess qualities of "responsibility, empathy, generosity, and shared prosperity." He especially expressed sincere gratitude to the 115th class for their hard work and contributions in organizing the orientation camp.
Dean Yeu-Shiang Huang, in his speech, stated that NCKU's EMBA program is not only about imparting academic knowledge but also an invisible network of connections. Today, there are about 2,000 new students and alumni present, symbolizing a network of connections to the 1,999th power. This is not just a number but also symbolizes countless opportunities for collaboration, professional sharing, and friendships. He also mentioned that this year marks the 25th anniversary of NCKU's EMBA program, and he looks forward to continuing and passing on this success.
At the closing ceremony, the class representatives of the 115th class, Chang-Tai Li and Zhong-An Liu, handed over the star insignia to the new 116th class representatives, Guan-De Li and Jia-Hao Zhang, symbolizing the commitment to class affairs and the continuation of leadership.
The NCKU EMBA orientation camp has been held annually since 2014, marking its 10th year. Even during the past three years of the pandemic, this event has never been interrupted. This year, more than 160 new and returning students gathered together, setting aside their busy work schedules to fully participate in the two-day, one-night off-site learning program. The orientation camp provides a platform for EMBA students to interact and exchange ideas, allowing participants to grow together through teamwork and prepare for future challenges.
