Collaboration Between Chieftek Precision Co., Ltd. and NCKU - The Development of Rehabilitation Robot
The 2022 Tainan Automatic Machinery & Intelligent Manufacturing Show took place in ICC Tainan on April 21. It was really lively that nearly 200 manufacturers around Taiwan participated in the show. Chieftek Precision Co., Ltd.(cpc) demonstrated their brand new product, Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm. Among them, S0 Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm is the current smallest collaborative robot in the market with 0.5 kg payload capacity and 3.5 kg weight.
The research team of the vice president of NCKU, Fong-Chin Su, will develop “S0 Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm” to be an assisted robot for hand rehabilitation.
Currently, this robotic arm has started industry-academia cooperation, the research team of vice president Su will develop “S0 Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm” to be an assisted robot, in order to assist the rehabilitation of wrist joints and knuckles. It can help patients of Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Replantation of Finger, Carpal tunnel syndrome, and Trigger Finger to recover their joint range of motion, strength, and coordination training. In the future, innovations of metaverse and AR/MR will be added, to increase the functions to achieve precise personal health and remote home rehabilitation. It is estimated that if the application of robotic arm is extended to the medical health industry, it will create more than 10 times the output value.
The show lasted for 5 days, it was the first show since the ICC Tainan was completed. cpc published two Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm this year, among them, S0 Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm is small and light. It can move smartly in a limited space, and with its special design to fold, it can create many kinds of path planning. For the development of assistive robots for hand rehabilitation, the mobility and variability of the 6-axis robotic arm are the most important points.
Miniature Robotic Arm - Wide Range of Application
The research team of vice president Su indicated that the purpose of developing robots for hand rehabilitation is to assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists. It is able to increase the time and frequency of treatments for patients and to accelerate the speed of recovery. What’s more, the Miniature Robotic Arm has the features of light, small, and easy to move. In the future, it can be applied to a variety of fields and even to home rehabilitation, patients will not have to be limited to medical institutions. At the same time, robotic arms can also extend to VR, telemedicine, home care, etc, the industrial value it brings is also expected to improve.
Cpc published two Miniature High Precision 6-Axis Robotic Arm this year.Besides S0, another one, DB0, weighs 4.7 kg. It has a 5 µm repeatability that is suitable for high precise demand. DB0 also provides a guided panel to complete the path planning easily.
Chieftek Precision Co., Ltd. was established in 1998, known for high quality linear motion components and intelligent automation. Their core technology is the manufacturing of high quality linear motion systems and components, including products such as linear guide, robotic arm, and software PLC,etc. CEO Li-Fen, Chen, and President Ming-Che, Hsu are the founders of cpc. They are famous husband and wife in the industry, and Mr. Hsu is the winner of the 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Department of Engineering Science of NCKU. cpc,in its early stage (1999), once stationed in the Business Incubation Center of NCKU,it was one of the first start-up companies, and it has continued to collaborate with professors from departments of Engineering Science, Electrical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering of NCKU to develop products.
