"Infineon Campus Day" Held for the First Time at NCKU to Lead the Future of Automotive and Energy Technology
Infineon Technologies, a global leader in the semiconductor industry, held its first-ever "Infineon Campus Day" at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) on September 19, 2024. This event highlighted the company's strong commitment to Taiwan's higher education and technological innovation while showcasing its advancements and market leadership in the automotive and energy sectors. Senior directors, R&D leaders, heads of sales departments, the HR director, and other executives from Infineon attended the event, which was hosted at the Yueh-Sen Lecture Hall in NCKU's Department of Engineering Science. The event attracted over 100 students from the College of Engineering and was attended by more than 10 faculty members, including Department Chair Chin-Feng Lai, Associate Professors Sung-Pei Yang and Shih-Yeh Chen, Assistant Professors Yu-Chi Chang, Wan-Chun Chuang, and Chih-Chang Chang, as well as Distinguished Professor Pei-Yin Chen and Associate Professor Kun-Ta Chuang from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering.
Since its inception, Infineon Technologies has been dedicated to providing innovative solutions, particularly focusing on R&D in the automotive and energy sectors, positioning itself as a global leader in these fields. Its products are widely used in key markets such as automotive electronics, energy management, and industrial automation. Notably, Infineon holds a benchmark position in automotive semiconductor solutions. As a leading semiconductor supplier, Infineon emphasizes technological breakthroughs in decarbonization and digitalization, helping industries achieve higher energy efficiency and sustainable development while creating competitive advantages for its global clientele.
In June 2024, Infineon announced the establishment of its "Advanced Automotive and Wireless Semiconductor R&D Center" in Taiwan. This marks the first such R&D facility set up by the European chip giant in the region, underlining its strategic focus on the Asian market. The center will specialize in developing next-generation automotive technologies and wireless communication semiconductors, demonstrating Infineon's commitment to talent development in Taiwan. Recognizing the potential of local talent and supply chains, the company is shifting the focus of advanced technology development to Taiwan. Through initiatives like campus activities, Infineon aims to enhance students’ understanding of its brand, products, and technologies while offering internship programs to engage the younger generation in cutting-edge R&D. This effort promotes deeper collaboration between academia and industry, laying a strong foundation for future partnerships.
During the event, Senior Director Jeffrey Mai remarked, “Infineon actively collaborates with various innovative institutions, including ITRI and major universities, in pursuit of forward-looking technologies. We aim to contribute to a greener environment through our production processes and deliver more innovative technological solutions for a digitalized society.”
The successful hosting of "Infineon Campus Day" symbolizes the company’s growing influence and commitment in Taiwan. It provided NCKU students with a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insights into a world-class technology enterprise. Infineon continues to expand its footprint in Taiwan, aiming to drive local industrial development and talent cultivation while contributing to sustainable global progress in decarbonization and digitalization
