Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, Vice President for International Affairs, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) visited Seoul National University (SNU) and Ewha Womans University (EWU) in South Korea on October 4 to deepen talent cultivation in Taiwan and South Korea. On behalf of NCKU, Vice President Hsieh signed the renewal of the student exchange agreement with SNU. He also introduced NCKU’s research highlights and important achievements in recent years and gave speeches in professional fields.

On the same day, Vice President Hsieh visited EWU for academic exchanges and collaboration discussions. Through the visits, Vice President Hsieh successfully helped the two universities to have a more concrete understanding of NCKU’s latest developments and strategies, especially the academic capabilities in engineering. In the future, students from NCKU and SNU will have more opportunities to conduct overseas exchanges and studies. EWU has also decided to promote NCKU students internally. In addition to humanities and social sciences, it will also recommend students to have exchange study in the engineering field.

SNU is South Korea's national flagship university, ranking 31st in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. It has signed a university-level memorandum of understanding and student exchange agreement with NCKU since 2005. The two universities are long-term partners and are committed to research cooperation and talent cultivation in higher education. From 2021 to 2024, NCKU and SNU have jointly authored 102 academic articles. The first three fields of co-authorship are medicine, physics & astronomy, and biochemistry.

EWU, founded in 1886, is one of the oldest universities and the first women's university in South Korea. The university is located in Seoul. Many historical buildings are still preserved on the campus. EWU ranks 511th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. Its top three fields in terms of academic output are medicine, biochemistry, and social sciences. It is also a long-term partner of NCKU.
