NCKU has established the "Wu Zhi Student Support Center" in memory of alumnus Wu Zhi Zhang, focusing on life education
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has established the "Wu Zhi Student Support Center" in memory of alumnus Wu Zhi Zhang, who generously donated 1 million USD after his passing. The center, located in the Wei Nong Building, aims to promote life education, aesthetic education, and humanities courses, while fostering interaction between students, faculty, and alumni.
During the unveiling ceremony on November 11, 2023, NCKU President, Dr. Meng-Ru Shen, expressed gratitude for the donation and highlighted the importance of nurturing both professional and soft skills in students. The center includes new classrooms for aesthetics, life education, as well as spaces for discussions and alumni meetings. The renovations provide a modern and warm environment that blends academic and humanistic values.
Wu Zhi Zhang, who graduated from NCKU’s Mechanical Engineering Department in 1965, later built a successful career in the U.S. and was known for his philanthropic efforts. His legacy continues through this donation, which is the largest from his trust. The renovated space reflects the integration of art, culture, and academic purpose.

Thanks to the generous donation from the family of alumni Zhang Wuzhi, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has established the Wuzhi Student Support Center. President Meng-Ru Shen expressed his heartfelt gratitude with great joy during the opening ceremony.
