Learn Gratitude, Enjoy Blessings: NCKU Library's Themed Book Exhibition Invites You to Unlock the Magic of Gratitude
As the year comes to a close and we look to the future, it is a time for gratitude and blessings. From early December to the end of January 2025, the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Library is hosting a series of events for the themed book exhibition "The Magic of Gratitude: Opening the Door of Blessings." The event encourages everyone to maintain a grateful heart and view the events of life positively, carrying the strength of 2024 forward to joyfully welcome the arrival of 2025.
The library’s “Sweet Dreams” themed book exhibition, designed to mark NCKU’s 93rd anniversary, encourages people to sleep well and take care of their physical and mental health, aiming to improve their sense of well-being. The exhibition will close on December 31. Before it ends, the library will feature the “The Magic of Gratitude: Opening the Door of Blessings” exhibition from December 2 to January 31, 2025, in the library's Reading Area. The books and the exhibit's layout are closely connected to the "Sweet Dreams" theme, hoping that everyone enjoys quality sleep and wakes up refreshed, ready to face challenges with a healthy mind and body, and embrace the new year with a grateful heart.
A special 240 cm high archway is designed at the entrance of the exhibition to symbolize opening the door to blessings. The library hopes that as visitors walk through the arch, they will reflect on the moments of the past year with gratitude, wishing for a better year ahead. The main visual of the exhibit is inspired by "smiling tears," representing emotions of joy, gratitude, appreciation, and praise. Honey dripping from the frame symbolizes the fruitful harvest of the year, both in terms of spiritual fulfillment and tangible success. This visual of joyful tears and sweet honey, combined with golden raindrops hanging in the air, creates a light and blessed atmosphere. The exhibition displays over 100 selected books from the NCKU Library related to the theme, along with a gratitude wall where visitors can leave messages. Through this sharing, the library hopes to spread warm energy across the campus.
The library quotes Pope Francis, saying, "If we are people of gratitude, the world will become a better place. Even a small amount of gratitude is enough to spread hope in the world." The library encourages everyone to reflect on how long it has been since they last thought of something or someone to be grateful for, or perhaps forgotten to express appreciation to those who have helped them. It hopes that everyone will turn their gratitude into positive action, helping others, and finding blessings in daily life, whether in times of ease or adversity.
The "The Magic of Gratitude: Opening the Door of Blessings" exhibition features popular characters from the "Sweet Dreams" exhibition, including raccoons, frogs, pandas, owls, bats, bears, lions, dolphins, and pigs, all of which, after a good night's sleep and sweet dreams, wake up full of energy and vitality to meet visitors in the gratitude-themed exhibition. To celebrate Thanksgiving, the library has added a new companion—a Thanksgiving turkey, dressed in a relaxed and festive manner. This addition aims to evoke reflections on the true meaning of Thanksgiving through the integration of seasonal symbols.
