NCKU Shalun Park partners to build an AI education platform, cultivating digital talent for Southern Taiwan.
Building an AI Education and Innovation Application Demonstration Platform with Shalun as the Core Base
NCKU Vice President Yau-Hwang Kuo pointed out that global demand for AI professional skills is growing at a rate of 3.5 times, particularly in high-tech industries such as biotechnology and healthcare, where generative AI has already shown significant potential for increasing productivity and innovation. Vice President Kuo expressed that NCKU is committed to combining global cutting-edge technology with local needs, with a mission to promote the digital transformation of southern Taiwan’s industries. The university aims to enhance the Shalun Medical Service and Innovation Park as a platform that connects academia and industry. Starting with industry-academia collaborations in healthcare and biomedicine, the goal is to promote the widespread application of smart medical solutions, leveraging digital innovation technologies to enhance regional industry competitiveness and set a model for the southern Taiwan digital hub.
Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, S. Felix Wu, stated that integrating AI technology deeply into education and industrial applications is a core goal of the college. Going forward, the college will continue to promote relevant projects to further expand AI applications in various fields. He emphasized that through close cooperation with industry, NCKU not only can jointly explore applied technologies and solutions to challenges but also inject new vitality and inspiration into teaching, facilitating bilateral exchanges between academia and industry.
Collaborating with Regional Industries to Cultivate Digital Talent for the AI Era in Southern Taiwan
As a key institution in southern Taiwan with diverse functions in talent cultivation, research, and medical services, NCKU is responsible for responding to social needs and trend issues. One of its key tasks is to promote the Shalun Medical Service and Innovation Park and assist regional industries in their digital transformation. With the current global wave of digital transformation, there is a growing demand for information technology and data professionals, making the shortage of digital talent a critical issue to address. In the future, the Shalun Medical Service and Innovation Park will not only be a testing ground for industry AI applications but also a base for cultivating international talent.
During the December 3 event, the AWS team shared the latest technologies and application ecosystems for generative AI, including cloud computing platforms, data management tools, and innovative case studies. These cases not only inspired the participants' innovative ideas but also demonstrated the potential of cloud-based generative AI technologies in solving real-world industry problems.
This event marks the first step in the Shalun Medical Service and Innovation Park's initiative to promote regional industry AI education and training. Future events will continue to strengthen collaborations with global leaders in digital technology, while providing technical support for innovation and transformation of regional small and medium-sized enterprises, creating a sound ecosystem that connects industry-academia needs. NCKU is actively developing research in AI, big data analysis, the Internet of Things, and information security, excelling in interdisciplinary applications such as health, energy, and smart cities, with unique digital innovation technologies. The university aims to collaborate with regional industries to build a talent cultivation system from foundational education to industry practice, delivering internationally competitive digital professionals for the southern Taiwan region.
