The torch of the 114th National Intercollegiate Athletic Games was relayed to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) on April 11. NCKU Vice President Yuh-Neu Chen received and passed the torch at Banyan Garden on behalf of the university, taking it from Yung-Lung Lee, President of this year’s host school, Chang Jung Christian University. A strong team of NCKU torchbearers carried out the campus relay, including: Chen-Lin Hsiao and Yu-Si Chen from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Cheng-Kuang Lin from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Hui-Tzu Tai from the Department of Business Administration, Hsueh-Lun Lai from the Department of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering, Jen-Hao Chen from the Institute of Physical Education, Health & Leisure Studies, and Yi-Ching Chen from the Department of Resources Engineering. The torch relay around the campus symbolized the passing on of spirit and legacy.
Vice President Yuh-Neu Chen remarked that while Taiwan is known for its "national treasure" TSMC, physical strength is also a reflection of a nation's power. She emphasized that students constantly push their limits and train with unwavering dedication—demonstrating a spirit of resilience that mirrors the strength of Taiwan’s technological backbone. She offered her heartfelt wishes for the success of NCKU’s neighbor, Chang Jung Christian University, in hosting the 114th National Intercollegiate Athletic Games. She also encouraged all participating athletes to rise to the challenge and compete at their best. Chen expressed hope that this year’s games would bring greater visibility to Tainan, showcasing the city’s vitality to the nation and beyond.
The 114th National Intercollegiate Athletic Games will be held from April 27 to May 2 at Chang Jung Christian University. According to NCKU’s Physical Education Office, the university will compete in a wide range of events, including track and field, swimming, table tennis, badminton, tennis, soft tennis, rugby, judo, taekwondo, archery, fencing, karate, and weightlifting. Though NCKU is known as a top academic institution, it also fosters a strong athletic culture. In recent years, its athletes have delivered increasingly impressive performances in sports competitions. The university encourages all its athletes to enjoy the games, push beyond their limits, and strive for excellence.
