NCKU Security Guards Start Using the First Batch of Green Energy Patrol Motorcycles Super Charge Station in the Campus is Available for All
NCKU takes the initiative to participate in the Green University Campaign and realizes its University Social Responsibility (USR). This afternoon (14th), Pei Jung Lu, the Secretary General of NCKU led the security guards to start using the first patch of in-campus electric motorcycles. In the future, when patrolling around the campus, they will be greener, quieter, and more efficient. Moreover, there are two supercharge stations in the campus, which are also available for the general public.
NCKU security guards said that the green energy motorcycle is able to decrease the emission of waste gas, improving the air quality in the campus. Besides the characteristics of low-carbon, green, and energy-saving, due to its low noise, the security guards can complete their work quietly and smoothly. There are four motorcycles being used at the first round, and NCKU will continue to replace the fuel motorcycles with electric ones.
Pei Jung Lu said that NCKU takes the initiative to respond to the Green University Campaign, and also takes the USR as its responsibility. To conduct the program of low-carbon campus, build a healthier and friendlier campus environment, and deal with air pollution problems around the campus, NCKU plans to gradually promote the use of green vehicles as official vehicles, in order to follow the Executive Yuan’s announcement to ban the sale of fuel-powered motorcycles from 2035.
Starting this year (2022), the security guards will be responsible for the replacement and update of patrol motorcycles. After visiting the manufacturers, they decided to purchase the green electric motorcycles from China Motor Corporation (CMC). With reference to the current police vehicle warning equipment of the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior, NCKU uses its own identification system to complete the purchase of patrol motorcycles, the design of the exterior of the motorcycles and the installation of special equipment.
The motorcycles NCKU uses this time are 125cc fast-charging electric motorcycles. There will only be a small noise of the drive belt, and due to its light-weight design, you can save energy when parking and moving it. After experiencing it by herself, Pei Jung Lu complimented its light weight design, saying that it is a considerate design. The charge station in the campus can charge 50% in 10 minutes, enabling the motorcycle to drive back and forth between the main campus and Guiren campus. Its charging design with 110v enables users to charge with general home electricity, which is able to fully charge it within four to five hours.
In response to the government’s policy of promoting environmental protection and carbon reduction and strengthening the use of green energy, NCKU plans to install a super-charging station on campus in 2020 in order to reduce vehicle emissions on campus and fulfill its social responsibility of environmental protection. Starting from February, 2021, the charging station will be installed on Kuang-Fu and Li-Hsing campus, being available to faculty, students, and the general public.
