6th International Forum on Responsible Finance and Trustworthy AI: Trends and Practical Outlook
The “2025 6th International Forum on Responsible Finance and Trustworthy AI: Trends and Practical Outlook,” co-hosted by the FinTech Business Innovation Research Center (FinTech 商創研究中心, NCKU) at National Cheng Kung University (國立成功大學, NCKU) and the Sustainable FinTech Industry–Academia Alliance (永續金融科技產學小聯盟), took place on November 18, 2025, at Guangfu Campus. Over 10 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia, were represented by participants from academia, industry, and government. The forum focused on sustainable finance, responsible finance, and trustworthy AI amid global rapid changes, and the consensus reached will provide policy references for governments.
The forum featured an opening keynote and five thematic panel sessions, with two core objectives: 1) exploring policies for cultivating trustworthy AI talent and establishing an AI ecosystem that integrates ethical, transparent, and sustainable values; and 2) examining how financial institutions can leverage AI and other innovative tools to accelerate the achievement of natural capital and sustainable development goals, moving toward a net-zero and inclusive future. The forum also collaborated with the international journal Asia Pacific Management Review (APMR), offering outstanding papers the opportunity to be published in a special international edition for potential promotion and application.
The opening ceremony was attended by Hsiao-Wen Wang (王效文主委), Chair of the Research, Development, and Evaluation Committee, Tainan City Government; Assistant Vice President Ping-Sheng Wu (吳秉聲), NCKU; and Dean Pei-Fang Su (蘇佩芳), College of Management, NCKU. The keynote speech was delivered by Secretary-General Dang-Jie Wu (吳當傑), Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable, sharing the vision and current development of responsible and sustainable finance in Taiwan. Using Cathay Financial Holdings as an example, he illustrated the achievements and challenges of promoting responsible banking and responsible investment domestically.
The summit sessions included speakers such as Yi-Jun Shih (施宜君), Deputy Director of the Financial Innovation Department, Financial Supervisory Commission; Fang-Yuan Li (李芳遠), General Manager of O-Bank; Zong-Hua Tsai (蔡宗樺), Head of Consumer Banking Sustainability, E.SUN Bank; Da-Yu Cheng (鄭大宇), Chairman of Concord Securities Group; and Jin-Rui Chang (張晉瑞), Chairman of PwC Intelligent Risk Consulting, sharing highlights and strategies for transformation, green finance, and innovative financial business models.
Two sessions, “Forward-Looking Forum” and “Capacity Building for Sustainable Economic Ecosystems,” were organized by NCKU College of Management, NCKU Disaster Prevention Center, award-winning enterprises of the “NCKU Sustainability Gold Award,” and financial industry experts, sharing corporate sustainable development practices and experience, helping participants grasp key trends in ESG management and sustainability disclosure.
To align with the government’s “AI New Ten Major Projects” policy vision, a session titled “Technology and HR Trends Outlook” invited representatives from the AI Research Institute of the Institute for Information Industry, Chailease Holding, Concord Securities, Nan Shan Life Insurance, and BSI to discuss talent needs, risk management, and international standards under AI applications, supporting companies to adapt to rapid changes in the generative AI era.
A session on “Enhancing Financial Literacy” addressed rampant investment fraud, with experts from banking, insurance, and the Criminal Investigation Bureau analyzing the latest scams to improve public financial risk awareness, reduce personal financial loss, and strengthen social financial security.
The FinTech Business Innovation Research Center at NCKU stated that this forum aims to promote in-depth integration of fintech and sustainable governance through cross-national and interdisciplinary exchange, fostering a more transparent, equitable, and sustainable financial environment, and enhancing Taiwan’s international visibility in responsible finance and trustworthy AI.
Established in 2018 (107th academic year), the NCKU FinTech Business Innovation Research Center focuses on advanced research in smart finance and assists domestic financial institutions in digital transformation, innovative financial product design, and business model development. In 2023 (112th academic year), with support from the National Science and Technology Council, the center established the Sustainable FinTech Industry–Academia Alliance, aiming to promote NCKU research teams’ proprietary or unique technologies in AI, blockchain, big data analytics, cloud computing, data mining, and machine learning for practical industrial application.
