National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) held the "ASE Recruitment Orientation" for international students on the afternoon of the 5th at Prince Hotel to foster connections between international students and the industry, enhance their willingness to work in Taiwan after graduation, and respond to Taiwan's New Southbound Policy. The event attracted outstanding international students from various faculties including the College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Intelligent Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing, among others. Participants represented diverse nationalities such as the United States, Swaziland, Pakistan, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, spanning bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Notably, 15 international students who are set to graduate this year expressed interest in pursuing careers in Taiwan.
During his speech at the lecture by NCKU's Director of International Affairs, Professor Sun-Yuan Hsieh expressed gratitude to Vice Manager Huang from the Human Resources Department of ASE Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. for attending. He appreciated Vice Manager Ze-Xiang Huang's detailed introduction of ASE's development, future plans, job requirements, and qualifications, which helped students better define their career directions. This interaction provided a clearer and more practical understanding for students in planning their future careers. Professor Hsieh also mentioned that ASE Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. would be an important partner for NCKU students on their career paths.
Mr. Ze-xiang Huang, Deputy Manager of the Recruitment and Employment Department at ASE Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd., first introduced the overview and corporate culture of ASE Semiconductor. He explained that the company's main business is chip packaging and testing services, boasting advanced process technology and standing as the world's largest semiconductor packaging and testing provider. ASE's manufacturing facilities are strategically located across 4 continents and 7 countries worldwide. He also mentioned that ASE Semiconductor is currently a potential partner in NCKU's Butterfly Attraction Project, with both parties actively engaged in discussions.
Deputy Manager Huang outlined ASE Semiconductor's recruitment standards and benefits for foreign employees, focusing on fresh graduates from engineering and semiconductor disciplines. He emphasized selecting candidates based on their academic and professional qualifications. Mr. Huang also offered valuable advice on resume preparation and interview techniques, benefiting both graduating students and those still considering career paths. The event concluded with resume submissions and brief interviews, with successful candidates scheduled for further interviews at ASE Semiconductor within a week. Conducted entirely in English, the event served as an effective communication platform for international students.
Participants in the orientation expressed high satisfaction and interest in future recruitment events. The session not only enriched international students' knowledge of Taiwan's semiconductor industry but also facilitated direct interaction with companies. This engagement significantly bolstered international students' desire to pursue careers in Taiwan after graduation, aligning with Taiwan's New Southbound Policy objectives. The effective pairing of NCKU's talented international students with ASE Semiconductor not only supports their career aspirations but also aids in their successful employment placement in Taiwan upon graduation.
