NCKU Architecture and MAA Group Consulting Engineers Sign MOU for Strategic Industry-Academia Collaboration
On July 24, 2025, the Department of Architecture at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and MAA Group Consulting Engineers signed a memorandum of understanding to promote mutual cooperation and exchange. This collaboration aims to enhance the depth and breadth of architectural education and to cultivate mid- to senior-level professionals.
The signing ceremony was held at the Department of Architecture at NCKU. After the ceremony, both parties engaged in discussions regarding future academic exchanges, curriculum development, co-teaching with industry professionals, off-campus internships, and employment opportunities for students. The collaboration is expected to improve students’ professional skills, expand their future development potential, and contribute to university social responsibility while also serving as a platform for innovation and exchange between academia and industry.
During the exchange, both sides expressed expectations for specific areas of cooperation, including the integration and mutual support of professional knowledge between academia and industry, the parallel development of design and technical courses, the incorporation of creative thinking with industry mentoring, the enhancement of international perspectives and technical capabilities, and the creation of mechanisms that promote win-win outcomes in student internships and employment opportunities.
In addition, both sides shared a broad vision for further collaboration in areas such as architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, bridge and geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, legal and regulatory frameworks, management, and the application of AI technologies. There was a clear and shared recognition of the engineering industry’s strong interest in establishing a long-term, in-depth partnership with NCKU’s Department of Architecture to jointly develop integrated knowledge and new opportunities for the next generation.
MAA Group Consulting Engineers employs approximately 3,000 people worldwide, including around 700 in Taiwan. Its core services include project construction management (PCM), design supervision, and engineering management, with a diverse project portfolio covering airports, hospitals, transportation infrastructure, educational institutions, government buildings, and private residential developments.
