NCKU and Delta Electronics(Thailand)Sign MOU for Talent Cultivation Through Industry-academia Collaboration
In his speech, Executive Vice President Dr. Fong-Chin Su thanked all the distinguished guests and said that the University continues to provide a variety of international courses and welcomes overseas students to study in Taiwan. There are 104 Thailand students studying in NCKU currently. In recent years, with the government's encouragement/support, NCKU not only provides scholarships and internship opportunities for overseas students from Southeast Asia, but also builds up overseas scientific research bases in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Decent results have been shown in various fields such as health care, innovative industries, and sustainable technology. The further signing of an MOU with DET will provide students with more learning diversity and internship opportunities, hoping that every graduate can connect to the right career path.
DET President Zhang pointed out, international talents are not only the core driving force for a company's growth, but also the key elements for substantial development. DET will provide internship and work opportunities for Southeast Asian students studying in NCKU. After passing the selection process, students can choose to practice in Taiwan or Thailand during the winter and/or summer vacations, hoping to attract suitable talents to join DET afterwards through this industry-academia cooperation project.
Together with DET, NCKU Butterfly Program provides students with scholarships while also allowing students to acquire practical skills. It aims to cultivate more competitive international talents from scratch, and will assist the development of economic growth and human resources of Thai enterprises. The signing of MOU not only supports students, but also consolidates the partnership between Taiwan and Thailand.
To sustain the existing cooperation between NCKU and DET under the relaxation of Thailand's border and Taiwan's entry restriction, two parties re-signed an MOU for maintaining the original subsidy program, opening applications for Thai students studying in NCKU, and increasing the internship slots form three to six students.
Executive Vice President Dr. Fong-Chin Su and President Zhang Caixing represented NCKU and DET, respectively, to attend the signing ceremony. Delta has been a leading company in the implementation of ESG (Environment Socialgovernance) . It develops many high-quality products to achieve a sustainable future. It also provides internship opportunities in education, allowing college students to broaden their viewpoint and experience local Thai culture at the same time.
The idea of "butterfly program" comes from the original intention of NCKU and DET to jointly cultivate future leaders, meaning a larva turns into a chrysalis and finally into a butterfly. Through scholarships and accommodation subsidies, overseas undergraduate students at NCKU not only can pursue knowledge, but become familiar with the culture of international enterprises. After graduation, they can enter DET to contribute what they have learned.
Cooperating with international enterprises, NCKU-Butterfly Program carries out various customized talent cultivation projects associated with Taiwan's New Southbound Policy. The International Office has successfully signed MOU with seven companies so far and continued to conduct promotions such as customizing the company's recruitment seminar, providing scholarships of admission, and establishing a special class for Southeast Asian companies.
