The NCKU Library stated that as Tainan City is approaching its 400th anniversary, being located in a cultural ancient capital, it hopes to expand its activities to touch on the field of cultural heritage preservation, aiming to remind people of the glory of the past at the beginning of the year and promote the importance of recording cultural development.
"Every year, month, and day, historical images are discarded or gradually deteriorated somewhere, whether they are documentaries, dramas, or experimental films, related to families, communities, ethnic groups, countries... these are all part of Taiwan's important memories." The Multi-Media Center stated that this exhibition will feature thematic lectures and screenings of digitally restored films, hoping to deepen local connections through the preservation and activation of audiovisual archives.
"Light of History: Historical Image Rescue Themed Book Exhibition" will feature historical image-related books and records, as well as documentary films, providing a reading atmosphere accompanied by historical image artifacts at the sofa area on the 4th floor of the Main Library. The Multi-Media Center will provide exhibits and development context related to the rescue, restoration, preservation, collection, and display of historical images, as well as organizing special lectures and screenings of digitally restored films. The first episode of the digitally restored version of "Love Amongst War" will be screened outdoors in the newly renovated B1 outdoor space of the NCKU Library, aiming to lead the audience to understand the importance of audiovisual archive preservation and start looking for their own family old images to reconstruct the history of audiovisual culture and revitalize the gradually disappearing memories of Taiwan.
The opening hours of the NCKU Main Library are (until January 13th) Monday to Friday 08:20-21:30, Saturday and Sunday 09:20-21:30; (during the winter vacation period from January 14th to February 12th) Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00, Saturday 09:20-18:00, and closed during the Lunar New Year from January 20th to January 29th.
