Education Doesn’t Stop at Wars NCKU Signed Cooperation Agreement with National Aviation University
“ NCKU’s goal is through building flexible strategic alliances with like-minded partnerships, becoming the stable joint power of education and science research in an era full of uncertainty.” Seeing the nonstop war in Ukraine, NCKU supported its international partnership by academic power and signed the cooperation agreement with National Aviation University, NAU online on July 26. By the recommendation of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Prague, NCKU got this chance to cooperate with NAU. This was the first time NCKU signed a cooperation agreement with a university in Ukraine. In the future, they plan to cooperate in the field of social security, aviation, and electrical and information engineering, hoping to promote the development of university education and high technology research, improving international links and academic capacity.
Huey-Jen Su, the president of NCKU, and Maxim LUTSKY, the president of NAU signed the cooperation agreement online. Both faculties from NCKU and NAU witnessed the moment of cooperation.
President Su indicated that during the period full of challenges, the academic cooperation of NAU and NCKU is to make education a stabilizing power for people. NCKU is getting closer to its one-hundred anniversary. It has cultivated many international outstanding talents through cooperation with industries and interdisciplinary cooperation in the past few years, and at the same time, helped Ukraine teachers and students who were struggling in war maintain academics. This is the first cooperation agreement signed with a university in Ukraine after the one signed with the Polish Academy of Sciences(PAS)in May. NCKU hopes to help scholars and postgraduates in Ukraine through the project.
President Su also mentioned that Jerzy Duszyński, the Dean of PAS, recently mentioned in an interview with the U.S media that though NCKU is a non-official academic institution, it made every effort to support Ukraine scholars in the war. NCKU not only launched the project of Light the Dark, and donated two hundred thousand through PAS, enabling Ukraine scholars to continue their research, but also assisted local students to go to school, bringing stability to international society. Along with the cooperation agreement of NCKU and NAU, it is hoped to have more opportunities for cultural exchange through this project in the future. “I hope that all the teachers and students in Ukraine are well, and that we can meet each other safely and healthily someday in the future.”
“ I am very grateful to NCKU for their continuous concern for the situation in Ukraine since the war began. They even support local education and scientific research through cooperation projects.” The president of NAU,Maxim LUTSKY, said that it is a great honor to launch academic cooperation with NCKU during the turbulent period. The research of aviation has long been the main goal of NAU, and it just cooperated with AIDC in Taiwan to promote the aviation industry this year. In the future, NAU hopes to engage in research, work together with partnerships, and accelerate the power of cooperation between Ukraine and Taiwan.
Located in the capital of Ukraine,Kyiv, NAU is one of the strongest aviation-related higher institutions. NCKU signed the cooperation agreement with NAU, and they are planning to conduct many cooperation of science research, including the field of social security, aviation, and electrical and information engineering. What’s more, through making academic exchange programs, holding seminars, developing double degree courses, and conducting focused training for talents in professional fields, they hope to stick the power of international academic partnerships together, and enhance the educational resilience of both sides in a worldly and regional crisis.
