NCKU and Taiwan's CECI Sign Cooperation Memorandum for Next-Generation Engineering Talent and Industry-Academia Collaboration
Vice President Hong-Chen Chen, representing President Shen Meng-ru, warmly welcomed the visit of CECI Taiwan in his speech. He pointed out that CECI Taiwan has laid a solid foundation for many important benchmarks in the engineering field, including engineering evaluation, planning, design, supervision, and professional management. As a comprehensive university with complete disciplines, NCKU is a key base for national scientific research and bears important responsibilities for nurturing next-generation talents. Particularly in the field of engineering, NCKU, grounded in engineering research, collaborates with industries to promote future production models, which is also part of fulfilling the university's social responsibility.
Vice President Hong-Chen Chen mentioned that NCKU and CECI initiated their cooperation capacity in 2016, focusing on technical research and development related to civil engineering. This signing cooperation marks a milestone, not only reviewing the past cooperation but also aiming for more refined collaboration on the existing foundation. With Taiwan's current severe industrial imbalance, nurturing diverse talents for the nation is an urgent task. Through this collaboration, diverse perspectives will be provided to students, and the partnership between the two parties will continue to grow mutually beneficial and create a win-win situation.
Chairman Yi-Fang Shih of CECI Taiwan praised NCKU's philosophy of governance and the outstanding performance of its alumni. He mentioned that NCKU graduates account for the highest proportion among CECI Taiwan employees compared to graduates of other universities in Taiwan. Looking back on the cooperation between CECI Taiwan and NCKU, both have inspired each other, resulting in a long-term stable cooperative relationship. In the process of seeking and executing related business, the university provided full assistance and guidance, which helped to achieve the project goals and gained recognition from clients. In the future, it is hoped that the cooperation will be deepened to facilitate the exchange of practical experiences from the industry and theoretical knowledge from academia. Apart from providing professional internship opportunities for NCKU students, CECI Taiwan also plans to offer generous scholarships to students, aiming to retain talents within CECI Taiwan and contribute to the cultivation of high-quality engineering professionals for the nation.
Chairman Yi-Fang Shih expressed the hope that through the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the two parties, the integration of NCKU students and CECI Taiwan professionals will enable long-term cooperation, nurturing talents together, participating in national construction, and achieving mutual growth by leveraging each other's strengths. He also believes that this is just the beginning of cooperation and is confident that future cooperation between the two parties will be sustainable and innovative.
NCKU has demonstrated high-level quality and quantity in cultivating professional talents, forward-looking academic research, and resource availability of books and instruments. It has accumulated many important achievements in scientific and technological development and has become a national academic research and technological development center. Recently, NCKU has actively promoted interdisciplinary sustainable research, establishing a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue to enhance NCKU's research and development capabilities in addressing global key issues. This includes establishing interdisciplinary school-level research centers, establishing cooperation platforms with the government and industry, and launching the "Sustainable Interdisciplinary Integration Project" last year in response to university development goals, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and national sustainable development policies, while mobilizing internal research and development capabilities to promote interdisciplinary cooperation, fulfilling the university's mission of academic excellence, industrial development, social responsibility, and international connections.
The signing of the memorandum of cooperation is a new starting point for the cooperation between the two parties. In the future, it will continue to promote the development of teaching cooperation, cooperation between teaching and research personnel, exchange of scientific research and technology, and the establishment of joint research centers, further leveraging the advantages of both parties to nurture green talents and develop key technologies for green engineering and construction, enhancing the new research and development capacity.
NCKU teams up with Taiwan CECI to sign an Industry-Academia Cooperation Memorandum, fostering the development of next-generation engineering talents and initiating a new model of collaboration between academia and industry.
